440k miles?
No wonder it died
Still sad though 500k would have been nice ::)
At least we've still got the V6 :y

Well enough is  enough :'(
Apparently the vacuum pump siezed and broke off,the sudden jolt broke three rockers and put a couple of valves through the pistons. So looks like 440k is the end of the line so much for 1/2 million.
Not worth another engine as no doubt something else would follow (gearbox, turbo etc) so to the scrap yard it will be :'(
Refugees from the 60s?? :D
wouldn't that be "three broke rockers" ;D ;D

Real Traktors are 2.5!! :D :D
Point taken but the 2.5's were too old to plate  (taxi)  :y
Oil level was ok before at start of shift, oil all seems to be from the rear ,cant see much  other than oil sprayed everywhere, we'll see what the spanner men say tommorow, who knows it might not be too serious :-/

Thanks all :) looking to change from my 3.0 elite to the diesel version, changed job locations so am now driving 12 miles each way across lincoln city so is about a Gallon a day. Looking at a very clean 2.2 dti CDX  03 plate,1 owner from new shed load of history with a 154k on the clock. Its had new gear box at 130k and new clutch at 145k sounds sweet as a nut ( for a diesel ) no smoke at idle or on the over run been offered 50/50 on the price with mine as trade in

That's about what we 've been getting for a clutch (3rd one nearly due) also bottom pulley seems to fail at around the same milage not a big job but a tow back if it goes on you ,we plan to change it with the clutch...really should be a service item ;)

I would say 5k is more than enough miles on a diesel between oil changes, whether you use the most expensive fully synth whizzy-bang hyper oils, or the good old cheap as chips GM semi at £8 + VAT for 5l

How do I put your reply in a box ????

Good advice and definitely the consensus on OOF just can't be bothered to change ours once a month ;D ;D
Half an hour and a few quid each month or a huge bill for a rebuild, I know which one I would prefer ;)
Should have read Dave can't be bothered it still gets changed every 7-8 weeks :y ;D still 400k wasn't bad for his first one :y
As said OOF advice is 5k and we wouldn't argue with that
