Omega General Help / Re: Omega 2.0 16v -99 Not starting

I got it started and no engine light on. Works great.
I tried my Vectras sensors and voila it started right up.

So i guess my friend ordered wrong sensors for me.

Now i know how just one sensor can make problems and how important genuine sensors are.

Thanks guys.

Hey guys.
Found something strange on the cam sensor connector.
When its plugged in the sensor i get 12v on all 3 pins even with ignition off. And even with the sensor off the car.

But when i disconnect the cable from the sensor i get 2.7v on 1 pin when ignition is on.
So does this mean the sensor is crap? And how did this happen? Have the connectors in the sensor melted togheter or something?

I tried to start the car without the cable plugged in and it doesnt start. I tried the same on my Vectra with the same engine, remove the cable from the sensor and it started up in limp mode. So i thought the omega would do the same if the sensor was faulty.

Ive already checked for spark wich i dont have.

Also found out Some sensors had 12v on 1 pin and some others had 5v on 1 pin with ignition.

Thanks for any help and feedback.

Personally purchased from a main Opel/GM dealer :-\

It was my friend that checked wich sensors i needed.
But can a faulty sensor make the engine completely dead?
These sensor was installed after the car died.

Thank you.

A quick squirt to diagnose a lack of ignition, as your post implies, is unlikely to be a problem. Using lots of starting fluid is a very bad idea.

You need to start from first principles; check the cam timing is still correct(although your symptoms suggest a sensor/wiring issue) , examine all the visible wiring, connectors and grounds, then use live data to home in on what isn't working correctly.

Thank you. Ive checked the marks and bot cams is poitint straight up on the marks. Also the wheel where the auxbelt is is on the mark, or i guess so, the mark on the wheel is at some pointing "thing" on the block.

The car worked fine but was in limp mode, then it died, i changed cam and crank sensor but it still doesnt start.
Could it be a bad ECU?

Thank you all for helping me out.

And starting fluid is more likely to kill it than the cambelt snapping :o

Really? I thought it shouldnt be any problem. But i didnt try so much because nothing happened.

Thank you

Needs a genuine cam sensor fitted

It should be genuine, both cam and crank sensor. But car dont start. It shows "Incorrect rpm signal" as fault code when ignition is on.
Also it said air temperature and fuel pump relay voltage high/low when i papeclip it.

Thank you

Hello guys.
Im from Sweden and i have a Opel Omega 2.0 16v with a X20XEV engine.

I bought this car recently very cheap. But engine light is on and it rev maximum to 4500rpm, and the car stops randomly, mostly after getting varm, sometime it starts right up again but mostly it need to cool down before it starts again. But now it doesnt start at all.
Timingbelt was changed 5000km ago.
Ive changed crank sensor and cam sensor. But it still doesnt start.
Its fuel in the fuelrail.
Ive tried to start it with startingfluid but no luck. Its like it doesnt have spark.

Someone knows what i should try next?

Thanks!!
