Omega General Help / Re: 3.0 lambda sensor wiring colours...

The Dymo was my best purchase before stripping out the whole car, closely followed by a bulk buy of Ikea sandwich bags in every size they did. As soon as anything got removed, the loom got a label and the bolts or whatever went into a bag - labelled with a Sharpie.

Even a few weeks later I'd have been struggling to remember what some of the stuff was, never mind five years later as it is now  ;D

Cheers, Stu

My label hasn't faded away yet, so I can tell you pin C on the N/S sensor is (a very grimy) brown with a blue stripe  :y

Omega General Help / VX grey goo ?
« on: 11 November 2025, 23:33:16 »
What's the Autodoc-available equivalent of the VX/GM "grey goo" I commonly see referred to? Specifically I'm after some for resealing a V6 breather box. Or is it the case that grey goo is grey goo is grey goo, and so long as it's grey it doesn't really matter about the label?  :y

For example, would this match ? - https://m.autodoc.co.uk/elring/15483203

An actual Vauxhall dealership (or halfway decent motor factors) would be an hour's round trip at least these days, whereas I'm in no rush and can just add a tube of something to my order and wait a few days.

Cheers, Stu

Is there a trick to getting the connector out of the sump? The Haynes says to remove the clip and "simply" push the connector through from the outside. I suspect that the thing's just gone a bit brittle after nearly thirty years and doesn't want to budge, but I thought I'd check first rather than go heavy on it.  :y

The bit of the connector on the inside of the sump is all one piece, right? Before I go trying to undo it or anything ...

Oh, that's nicely done  :y

Any particular paint to get such a nice finish on the intake plenum?

Omega General Help / Re: Plugging SAI manifold holes
« on: 10 August 2025, 11:15:39 »
A little late to the party having been away, but when I chopped out the SAI on my 3.0 I made up a few little blanking plates from some 4mm offcut, and just reused the original bolts with a smear of exhaust paste on the back. Perfectly functional. Replace the socket for the SAI valve with a 100 ohm resistor, as the ECU just wants to see some resistance on the line so it won't complain with a fault code.

For the EGR delete, I blanked off the each end and wired up a little cheater circuit. Unlike for the SAI delete, the ECU wants to see signals back within a happy range, so this just provides it with constant happiness  :y  https://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=149550.30#msg2008893

So, in an ideal world I would never want to see this pipe again…

If it needs a new gasket, it's a 2x37mm. You're welcome to one - I can probably find the little packet of them in the garage, if necessary.  :y

That's a cracking result  :y

Failing to visualise the arrangement of the oil cooler in my head whilst sat in the office - would that simply be a male M18 x 1.5 at each end of the flexi?

1st Choice Car Spares in Accrington, as mentioned by @cam.in.head. Decent old-fashioned kinda place, but let down by the fella's total reluctance to make the stacked 2.6 Elite pickable and get some cash from it, versus wanting to sell me a different "good" engine, that had been extracted in the usual clinically sympathetic manner  ::)  Well, at least it was a nice sunny afternoon ...

Much appreciated Gastro  :y

Evening folks,

I'm after a non-running V6 of any flavour to use for some mocking up on a project, so as to avoid taking apart my perfectly happy X30XE. Ideally still with ancillaries, even if they're questionable too, as it's the overall shape & positioning I want it for, rather than having aspirations of somehow rebuilding it. But hey, beggars/choosers, and all that...

If you've something sitting unloved in the corner of your shed (somewhere in the UK) and want the space back, let me know.

Cheers, Stu

A bugger to hear that. Was the key taken as well then?
