Omega General Help / Re: Rough Running 2.5 V6
« on: 06 April 2017, 19:28:50 »
The new parts turned up today and I got the old coil pack off and it was split open on one end (Opposite end from the electric plug). I went to fit the new one and noticed the electric plug was the wrong shape, despite the seller saying it would fit my car. Had to order another one (The correct one) and now I'm without the car until next week  >:(
At least I know the problem now and will be back to full power very soon  :D

I get really frustrated when people mislead you when they list stuff on Ebay. It was a shop as well and not a private seller.

The plug was slighly oily.

When you say oily, do you mean 'oily' on the ceramic body, or on the electrode / tip?

On the electrode tip. I should have said that.
Code readers wont read it. Try the paperclip test as described in the Guides section.

Misfire without codes on a non DBW V6 normally points to an HT problem.

I've ordered a new dis pack and leads. Hopefully that'll sort it out. I did wonder if the ECU might be faulty, so that'll be the next thing to change if the problem continues.

Thanks for the quick response.

The plug wells are dry and I don't see any oil leaks. The plug was slighly oily. I'll get the dispack off and have a look. I cleaned the breather pipes at the end of last year when I replaced the EGR. Do you think they are likely to be blocked up again? Bearing in mind I'd say I've done around 1000 miles since then.

Hi I'm new to the forum and joined to try and get help on solving my problem.

I have a 2000 2.5 V6 Auto Elite and about a week ago it suddenly started running rough as hell and struggles to pull in any gear. I have put my diagnostic reader on and it's not bringing any codes up, also there are no warning lights either on the dash. It's only done just over 91k and ran perfect before.
It was a sudden change and not something that gradually got worse. It has no problem starting and will rev (Albeit rough). It does sound like it's sucking in air, but I can't spot any pipes that are split. It's certaining misfiring and I think it's cylinder 5 as the plug was pretty wet. I didn't check the plugs on the right bank.
In your opinion does it sound like I need a dispack or new HT leads? The plugs have done about 3500/4000 miles.

I'm hoping to change the car this year as I really need an estate and want to know whether to spend money on this or cut my losses and get a new car now.
Any help would be great. The fact that it's showing no warning lights or codes is confusing me to be honest.
