Omega General Help / Wheel Vibration
« on: 24 December 2007, 09:21:20 »

Hi all, not sure if anyone can help....

Purchased a lovely 2.6 cdx about a month and a half ago and its had persistent wheel vibration problems. The following has been checked and in perfect running order.

1) Wheels are perfectly balanced and tracking has been done
2) New tyres
3) Wheels are not buckled
4) Wheel bearings are good

However between 60-70 I get a vibration not major but noticable and moreso under load - it appears to be on the front wheels?

I have heard the locking wheel nuts can make a difference - could I remedy this by taking them off? would it make a difference?

Best wishes and happy Xmas

Hi there,

It didnt seem to make much difference and today it keeps starting perfectly - however, on about six occassions since buying the car 4000 miles ago the emmissions sensor has come on when cruising at low speeds, holds onto second gear (its an auto) then the light comes on and the engine goes into limp/safe mode, now everytime by stopping and restarting the light goes off. Is this all to do with the sensor?

Many thanks

Chris

Omega General Help / Problem Starting
« on: 11 December 2007, 09:36:16 »
Hello All,

After a 60 mile drive home last night, I came back out to the car and she wouldnt start - turned over fine plenty of juice in the battery but didnt fire. After about 20 minutes she did fire - I took her for a good drive no issues with fuel as she took off like a rocket. Parked up, 30 mins later, same problem didnt start - by this time was 11pm and though AA van outside the house wasnt fair. Prepared to call them  out this morning, I went out to the car and on the first turn of the key... she started?????

Could it have been all the wet damp weather over the weekend?

If anyone has any ideas it would be great.

Many thanks

Chris

Omega General Help / Warning Light with the spanner?
« on: 16 November 2007, 11:55:37 »
Thank you all for my question regarding the stereo and mobile phone... next one..  ;)

On the dash is a spanner light which indicates emmissions I think - I have also read that the autos hang on the gear in order to get the mixture right in the exhaust chambers... I have now had the car for almost two weeks and the light has come on and stayed on twice... this normally rectifies itself when switched off and restarted - when the spanner light comes on the engine goes into safe mode (very similiar to being in the ice/snow mode on the box)....

My question is - is this something that can be easily fixed at the dealership.. or indeed myself? the engine and box seem tip top and run very smoothly, but I can see this being one of those annoying things that Id like to sort out...... the car has done just over 90k with fsh..... is a filter, fuse or someting easy that can be fixed... ?

Many thanks  :y

Hi there,

I can only think of two possibilities - one the fuel pump maybe failing or the cat on the exhaust is blocked and not allowing gases to flow properly - if the engine fails when accelerated or put under load it sounds like fuel starvation.....

Just my two penneth....

Omega General Help / CCR 2006 mobile phone?
« on: 15 November 2007, 13:01:33 »
Hi again,

Still getting to grips with the new cdx - I am a little confused whether the stereo unit allows for a mobile phone? there appears to be what looks like a microphone by the rear view mirror - if there is do you insert your sim card somewhere, or is it simply for a car phone kit?

Secondly - the CD cassette - pretty convinced this is not working and I understand it only plays original cd's not copies - but is there a common fault that can be fixed? or is it a case of replacing the cd cassette?

If anyone could help I would be very grateful. :y

Best wishes

Omega General Help / Is it balancing or wheel bearings?
« on: 09 November 2007, 13:54:45 »
Hi All, new to the site... sorry to say it, but with a little problem...  :-/

I purchased my second omega at the beginning of this week - it is a lovely car..... however I have noticed from 65mph upwards there is a wine and mild vibration from the rear - I have considered this maybe that the car wasnt really driven for some weeks and the wheels/tyres may need rebalancing? secondly a poss that the wheel bearings are worn - however would this create vibration similiar to speed wobble?

Its a 2.6 2002 - if anyone could help I would really appreciate it.

Best wishes

Chris
