Omega General Help / Front Wheel Bearing
« on: 08 May 2009, 10:41:40 »
Hi All,
I have a rather noisey front drivers side wheel bearing on my 2001 2.2 auto saloon.
Having looked at the price for the part, I have decied to crack on and do it myself.
Can anbody advise how difficult a job it is, any special tools required (large sockets etc?), anything to look out for?
Thanks,
Jimbo

Omega General Help / 2.2 Omega Saloon - fuel tank drain?
« on: 02 April 2009, 11:37:16 »
Hi All,

Following an unfortunate accident last night, my car is of to the repair shop today, and i think there is a good chance it may get written off when the assessor looks at it because of the level of damage and value of the car.

Anyway, to the point - It currently has a full tank of fuel that I am loath to leave in case it does get written off.

Can anybody advise if there is a drain plug/point on the tank (I dont have the car to look)? If there is I will make a trip to where the car is stored before it goes to the shop and reclaim the fuel before it goes, just in case!

Thanks,

Jimbo

Further to an earlier post, can anybody advise where the alarm indicator relay is on a 2001 2.2 CD Auto? It has been suggested behind the glove box, but would hate to strip this out and for it not be be there!
From what I can gather, this has failed and I just want to remove it.
Thanks,
Jim

Thanks for the advice. Do you know if the alarm indicator relay is in the same place on the 2001 Omega?
Thanks,
Jim

Omega General Help / Omega 2.2 CD alarm
« on: 17 December 2008, 16:16:58 »
Hi All,
My 2.2 CD Auto alarm (factory fit) has been playing up of late. It goes off randomly, and only settles down if i un-lock then re-lock the car a few times.
Now, the passenger side indicators are staying on (not flashing, just on all the time) when I lock or lock the car. If i lock/un lock about 7/8 times I can get it to go out.
Any advice? Or alternatively, how can i disconnect the alarm as funds are a bit short to get it fixed!
Thank all,
Jimbo

Omega General Help / Rough on start up
« on: 18 September 2008, 10:45:28 »
Hi all,
My 2.2 CD is running rough as a dog on start up from cold (some days cold start is worse than others), but when warm seems to be running okay. Can anybody offer any advice on potential or know problems before i put it in to be checked over?
Thanks,
Jim

Omega General Help / Re: Omega 2001 2.2CD thermostat
« on: 17 December 2007, 10:40:51 »
Thanks for the advice all.

I will try the test of starting from cold and feeling the top radiator hose tomorrow morning.

It does seem to be bit warmer (80ish) when stationary/driving around town but as soon as I get on the motorway - it drops straight down to a steady 75 and stays there.

Will report back tomorrow!

As far as I know it has never been flushed. The coolant is a nice red colour so i assume its Vx red?

Hi All,

My Omega is running cool - on a motorway run it sits at about 75 - around town upto 80.
Is this a sign that the thermostat is playing up, and if so how difficult is it to change (where is it!?).

Many thanks,

Jimbo

The headlight buzzer problem now appears to be resolved - got out of the car today and it merrily chirpped away at me.  Have no idea what the fault was (perhaps loose connection?) but it now works - strange.

Still no illumination on from the centre of the speedo across to the right of the dash - i bet that wont fix itself!  Any ideas on how difficult it is to pop dash out and check bulbs/connections?

All the best,

Jim

Omega General Help / Dashboard lights and warning buzzer
« on: 26 November 2007, 18:44:14 »
Hi all,

Just got an Omega (2001, 2.2 CD) which is immaculate bar one minor problem.
The dashboard lights from the centre of the speedo across to the right of the dash, along with the headlight warning buzzer do not work. I wondered if these problems are connected? Have checked fuses, but cant see one that works only these bulbs/buzzer!

Any help gratefully received!

Thanks,

Jim

Thanks for the warm welcome all!

I am a lucky boy having the omega and Gix - though it was a close run thing keeping the bike when the belt snapped on the old Omega... 'er indoors wanted to know why we had to keep a bike all warm and snug in the garage when we could sell it and get a better car....

All the best,

Jim
