Evening everyone,

This is not about anything vauxhall but my partners golf gttdi but as you lot are a bunch of clever fellows when it comes to any probs ive ever had then you might be able to help me with this one,

Hiya guys and gals :-))

I changed my clutch pedal the other week as the bracket on the back of the pedal snapped and so purchased a new pedal and all the bits that snap off when they go,  Took me a few hrs but all back and all good so i thought :-((

Before that day of me changing the pedal it was going into gear sweet as a nut and now since is hard to change gear ,  you got to real push it into gear and from first to second seems to be the worse,

Is this a coincidence and something else has gone wrong like the slave or master cylinder or is it something simple that i have or havnt done,   Aslo when me and my brother was fixing the pedal he was under the bonnet messing around and was moving the gear linkage by hand,  well i think thats what it is,   its the bars above the gearbox,   I dont know if that has anything to do with it or not but thought to mention it just incase.

Hopefully someone can help

Thanks

Looks like the vauxhall guy was telling the truth then,   Anyone with a trade club book who can verify that it aint in the book

Hi guys and gals :)

My wife's corsa 1.0 3 cylinder has had the old rattle and shake from the timing chain for quite a while now and its even loosing power so i think its time i got it changed.

I rang vauxhall for a price on the kit and was told a price of £122.87 for the kit ( trade price as it aint on trade club) :(

The guy told me that the kit included  the chair, tensioner,  some gaskets and also the cam gears.

Do i have to change the cam gear or are they just trying to sell me something thst i dont need,  Do they sell the kit without the cam gear and do anyone know the price without this.

Any help or advice you expert bunch of people :) :)

Due to the compression of a diesel engine, lack of a throttle butterfly and the fact that water can not be compressed, getting water in a bore can often either blow the headgasket out or bend a rod!

Neither are cheap (the latter is a new lump!)

99% if there is blue smoke on idle it WILL have bent a rod is it a hire van ?

Yes hire van,   Does that make a difference?

sorry to keep on but....  What else could cause this damage to the engine if it wasnt hydralock,  im sure they know the symptoms of hydralocked engine ,    Wont they ultimately find out?

So how will they know if id driven the van through water when they strip the engine,    Just hoping they dont find out as it could land me in the crapper :( :( :(

But they said its missing on cylinder 1,   Looking like hydralock but hoping its not,   will the cranking over of the engine help without the glowplug or wont?

Wouldnt it be loosing water or oil if the head gasket had gone??   Would the symptoms be the same for me if a rod had bent ?  Just read a little about it on the web and someone says that you could just remove the glow plug and fire the engine to see if it pushes any water out that could be in the bore,   Or is this a load of old bull ? :~)

Guessing its diesel so may well have hydrauliced a pot!

Number 1 rule of diesel driving in deep water.....do it on tick-over!

They will spot it when they strip it down.

So what work is involved, and what is hydrauliced ??
