Car starts first time no eml Dad made up every time i go round he gives me a demo.

Cold start was still terrible eml back on tried swapping maf sensor with mine and it started as it should. New maf sensor fitted yesterday started spot on this morning and eml gone off so fingers crossed might be able to put this one to bed because i felt bad because it was my idea for him to get this car and i chose it for him after looking at sevaral over priced pigs. Anyway other than this he thinks its the dogs nads, thanks to everyone who helped. Colin

diagnostic showed crank sensor open circuit, new one fitted yesterday but still a pig to start this morning. so this cured eml but not the original cold start fault aghhh.

Just found small breather hose blocked up with a hole in it, it had also gone almost chewy like, done a strip down all hoses and throttle body cleaned with carb cleaner offending hose replaced all blown through and dried with compressed air,hope its done the trick

idle is about 800rpm and smooth, once started from cold after at least three attemps it wont seem to rev just spits and pops after 20 secs it runs perfect

checked all breathers and throttle body all clear its wierd because once started, it starts all day after no problem and it runs excellent no misfires or splutters its just that stone cold starting issue.

Please help my dad has bought a 2001 omega 2.2cdx auto he decided he wanted one after driving mine but he has a problem, it takes 3 or 4 attemps to start from cold then splutters for 20 seconds then runs fine all day, just changed oil,filter, air filter and plugs but it was still the same this morning please help any ideas would be greatly appreicated

Hi mate i have had my 2.2 sport auto 3 weeks and i am only getting 20 mpg, plenty cold starts short runs and a heavy foot. Hope its better on a run but saying that we only got 25 mpg on a good day from a 2.0 mondeo manual. hope this helps. Colin
