Omega General Help / Re: Help never had heating
« on: 20 June 2011, 09:19:04 »
Have been informed by a collegue that there is a pnuematic controlled flap in the blower system that diverts the outside air into the heater or cooler side that is prone to coming out of its clips. Have you heard anything like this before and your right about the air con it does need recharging but i can live with out air con heating for the winter is more important. Many thanks for your advice. :y

Omega General Help / Help never had heating
« on: 20 June 2011, 08:52:36 »
Morning all i'm after some advice if possible, i have a 2000 "v" reg manual 2.5 v6 CD Omega estate . When i bought it some 3 yrs ago i ended up doing a head gasket change on it, after finding out the previous owner had used K seal to try to repair the head gasket leak. The problem i have though is that the heating or airconditioning side has never worked it blows but there is no heat or really cold air coming out, Are there any common faults with the system and i have changed the pnuematic bypas valve at the rear of the engine. The only thing i can think of is that the k seal has blocked up the heater matrix. Any advice would be appreciated. Also is it normal to be changing the coil pack every 2 yrs :o

Omega General Help / fault code/heater flap
« on: 07 August 2008, 12:12:06 »
Hi all been a while since i've been on hope everyone alright. Just brought up a strange fault code on my omega 2.5 V6 year 2000 via the paper clip method the car is giving out a fault code of "89" has anyone come across this before as my autodata doesn't recognise it.

Also has any one ever heared of a heater problem which stops you going from hot to cold. something about a solonid driven flap that un clips itself stopping you geting hot or cold air into the cab. Any ideas most welcome.

hi kev thanks for your advice if i tell you the whole story can you give me some advice . when i bought the car it was off ebay and i got caught abit but had no choice but to accept the car when driving it back from birmingham the coolant low came on and realised that there wasn't any hot air coming out of the heater. It appeared to be over pressureising the coolant system so i changed the expantion tank and cap to no avail, i also noticed that the vacuum system was put together wrong and that the main valve in the servo line had the connection for the climate system broken and was bodged to the engine vacuum side. i had the cambelt replaced and the engine looked at by a local mobile mechanic and he pressure tested the cylinders and said that there was no lose of pressure. after 2 days it started to get worse and i took it back to the bloke and he tested it at a higher pressure and said it was loosing pressure and that it in turn was blocking up the engine breathers which was why it was running rough and that he had put a headgasket sealant in it (k seal) and that should sort it out. i have taken the car on only one long trip (120 miles round trip) since then and have plumes of white smoke out the exhaust and on tick over the engine oil light flickers on and off. i have also got the milky cream deposits in the oil filler neck but have been told that thats normal for the V6 ? could all these problems be down to the heater bypass valve and the configeration of the vacuum syatem. although the lose of coolant worries me after the first 60 mile part of the said trip i had to put a litre of coolant back in the system. any ideas all , many thanks tafcol

Omega General Help / headgasket problem (do you need to skim heads)
« on: 17 January 2008, 09:35:51 »
morning everyone have a new problem, can anyone help my omega (face lift) v6 appears to have a headgasket problem. Its pressurising the header tank and i have a huge loss of coolant (in fact its using more coolant than petrol) its also has a lot of white smoke out of the exhaust, and the temp guage goes in to the red. my question is do i need to skim the heads when changing the head gaskets i am also going to change the water pump and the heater bypass valve, which seems to be a problem area for the omega. Also if anyone has any helpfull hints with head gasket changes please feel free to send them my way, many thanks tafcol

Newbie Welcome Area / hiya butt
« on: 17 January 2008, 10:13:37 »
hi everyone joined last year and already had some top advice. just bought (Dec) my second omega this ones a v reg facelift estate V6. last one was a p plate saloon 2.5td. I am encountering some problems with the new one so should be in contact often.

12
used the valve timing tools to set up timing also got hold of a vauxhall college engine manual. engine running sweet as a nut.

13
Morning everyone just a quick question for you all is there a specific way of bleeding the cooling system on the 2.5 V6. I have just completed replacing the cylinder head gaskets, water pump and Heater bypass valve and have also replaced the vacuum valve in the servo line and correctly replaced the vacuum system. But appear to still have an airlock in the system as it is not kicking out any hot air through the heater system. Also could anyone tell me what the pump under the passengerside front bumper on the facelift model is and could this cause or contribute to the problem as this is making a burbling noise. many thanks
