Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: ECC Temp sensors
« on: 16 December 2010, 14:03:20 »
Hi,
Ref the above reply.
The 2.6 and 3.2 do not use the small fan behind the hole in the middle of the controls idea. Nor is the interior temperature sensor behind there either. It is in the body of the air distribution unit near the vacuum operated air recirculation flap valve.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Faulty alternator?
« on: 20 November 2010, 17:00:36 »
Hi,
Glad your'e all fixed up now. I presume it was the BR14-T3-V14 Regulator that you replaced.

Would be interested where you managed to get it from. I couldn't find a stockist.
This is probably what is wrong with my original unit, and I would like to get it servicable again.

Hi,
As your motor is 3.2 V6 You are correct, it is a different alternator to the 3.0 L versions, which are Bosch PU120
The Vx no you quote is for Bosch XA 120 Alternator and yes it does have a different Regulator assembly BR14-T3-V14.

This the same as what I had. I couldn't find anywhere that stocked the regulator, and Europarts quoted £180 for a Lucas exchange unit but didn't have any stock. Vx could only tell me their replacement unit was price on application.

Wood Auto do make a brand new british built replacement ALT 10360 but didn't have one in stock at the time. at about £100 (non exchange)

You can replace with a Bosch PU 120 which is what I had to do in the end. It is quite common on the 2.5 and 3.0 L engines and the regulator is readily available.

Have you double checked that you don't have a poor connection on the crimped cable connection from alternator to the battery terminal. This is a very common problem.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Changing Alternator
« on: 08 September 2010, 12:47:05 »
Hi all,
I need to replace the alternator on my motor. Have looked in the how to, but doesn't seem to be anything there.

It looks an awkward fiddly job, with a load of gear to come off "to see the rabbit" but I am sure I can manage it.

Does anyone have any handy tips or experience to add to make it easier?

Regards
Roger

Hi All,
Yup, this is an easy way to fit variable delay wipers if not OEM on your version of the Omega.

Mine is the ex plod 02 3.2 Estate only fitted with fixed delay wipers.

I sent for the relay from same place as Kevin £12.49 (VW dealer in Southampton wanted £38.00) Looked up on maintenance guide on here for location of relay, on mine relay K8, position 9 (tall yellow relay) in relay box.

Swapped relays, and hey presto now have programmable wiper delay.

Well done Kevin.

Hi,
I'm curious,

Is this powersounder your'e all on about just an Elite thing??

Can anyone assure me that my MV6 ex plod doesn't have such trinkets that may be fireballs.
Where may they be situated??

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Indicator left ON warning buzzer
« on: 12 August 2009, 21:27:23 »
Hi all,
Many years ago I fitted a gizmo on a Maxi I had, that would warn if the turn indicator was left ON.  It had an adjustment you could set so that it would only start buzzing if indicator was ON for more than 30 to 100 secs.

Has any one seen anything like one of these about now?

I am finding that sometimes when I only signal only to change lanes for instance, that the self cancel doesn't operate, and although I know I should, but I don't always notice it has stayed ON.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Rear window heating- any info
« on: 13 December 2008, 00:10:41 »
Hi all,
On a cold and frosty morning etc etc

I notice that only the lower 4 or 5 heating strips across the rear window glass of my Omega estate seem to be working.

Have not had much chance to delve into it yet, but wondered if anyone has investigated similar problem. Where do you get to glass heater strip connections to investigate. Are all the heater strips in parrallel, or some in a series connection arrangement ??

I remember seeng a thread long ago, about the heated strips are also the radio aerial.

Any info welcome.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Changing Radio / CD / Tape Unit
« on: 12 February 2008, 22:41:13 »
Hi All,
I do not have the original Radio unit that was fitted for my car ( 2002 3.2 Ex Met Police)
At present ther is a real piece of junk radio unit fitted by prev owner.

I wish to replace this with a Sony head unit with 10 CD Changer unit I removed (only 2yrs old) from my previous car before scrapping

In the car is a blue radio connector with 3 banks of connectors. 2 the usual power / speaker ISO connectors to plug into head unit with a third connector which I think obviously fitted the original equip radio for a dash readout. These three connectors are all moulded together so I am unable to plug the assembly into the back of the Sony head unit.  If all else fails, I possibly could saw through this connector, but prefer not to.

Does any one know if there are adaptors, ie socket to plug, available to plug into the head unit / bank of ISO sockets.

Any info welcome

« on: 02 February 2008, 14:42:18 »
Hi,
I presume you have actually checked all the bulbs?

I once had the run around looking for fault on a Fiat van with dip headlights out. I thought it must be a fault because both were out.
It was just both bulbs had blown. Coincidence does happen.
