The black MV6 estate was not very good for the money £3k!
How does the 3.0litre Elite stand up to the MV6 on performance ? Is there a lot of difference? Cos i've found this one.... http://www.parkgatemotors-sussex.co.uk/GetDealer.do?did=13564&pageid=3

Ahh , it was my fault ..... ignored what it said in the Haynes book of lies ..... Got a Peugeot 405 Mi16 one to do soon as the previous owner didn't do the job properly and bent 4 valves. Having now lapped in 16 valves I can understand the importance of getting it right first time.... I have rebuilt a couple of 8 valve engines and had no problems. I do all my own work as a rule as I don't trust small garages since one balsed up my old 405 estates clutch. I even work on the Transit at the side of the road , outside of my house (did a clutch change).... Currently working on the bodywork on a slightly crashed Citroen Paxo.

Hmm, plus the saloon needs a rear box ..... and a minor touch up on the rear drivers side door (just under the window lower rubber , small rust blister) , so there's at least £300 off asking price....

The estate however , I haven't seen , so if I said at least £250 off asking price (both are in dealers) I should be getting somewhere... Cheers for the response...

Recently joined a Transit forum and got great help there too.... cos I ballsed up my transit cambelt ::)

Going to post this here too...
Will look at the 79k estate tomoz and see what has been done in the way of servicing ... Nice looking car .... The other one is having some minor blemishes sorted tomoz (scrape on front bumper) and is still hot on my list. Any ideas how much I should budget for a cambelt /water pump change , so I can use it as leverage on a bit of discount     ;D

:-? Hi all , joined as i'm looking to buy an MV6 , found two , both '98 model , one estate with 79,000 miles and one saloon with 18,000 miles(and i've seen the history).... I need to know a bit more about these cars , like cambelt changes etc.. The Saloon is lovely but at around 10 yrs old , will/should it need a cambelt change? The estate at 79k is almost due for one from what I have read. It may have been done , but i've not seen the car yet. The Estate is black has full leather etc and is MANUAL! The saloon is Champagne coloured , has cloth seats and is an Auto! What do you reckon ? Looked at other makes of car but ended up at MV6s every time.... ;D

Yeah that rule works for front wheel drive LSDs too... My 205 GTi Rally car has a Quaife LSD as said before , jack the front up , spin one wheel , the other spins in the same direction , my other 205 however doesn't have one and the wheels spin in opposite directions.

Like T/C , I find ABS can be annoying on my works Transit , that really needs T/C though .....are there many LSDs around 2nd hand in the uk?

Hmm, seems liek you Scabndinavians get the LSD as standard , unlike us Brits that have to suffer with switchable one wheel wheelspin! How many MV6s in UK spec have got a slipper as std?

Hmmm, so I suppose I need to wait until it rains , turn off the t/c then give it a right boot full  ;)

Cool , i'm after an MV6 , seen a couple but not really had the chance to give them the'BEANS' if you know what I mean. The Auto one I drove had Traction Control though??? I have a Quaife LSD fitted to my 205 GTi Rally car and it totally changes the way it drives , much more traction on wet surfaces..

Omega General Help / How easy is it to do a cambelt on an MV6?
« on: 17 December 2007, 00:27:14 »
As above really , i'm fairly competant and can read a Haynes manual ::) I own tools but are there any special ones for this job? and how easy is it to do/mess up?I'm limited on space in which to work as my driveway is narrow and the only bit I could work on is sloped!
