Coooooool!  Thanks guys, I can live with it for now, because it only does it at the colder temps and er, well, I don't need to tell you that it's set to well about 20 at the moment!

Omega General Help / Fan speed problem.
« on: 27 December 2007, 11:04:41 »
No first thoughts are the fan controller resistor, however, read on......

I have a strange problem.  I have a facelift with the CC.  The fan seems to have a mind of it's own and is difficult to control the speed of.

Example, if I set the temperature to 17, the fan come on a full speed, whether I manually turn it down or not, turn the temp back up and the fan speed is ok to control.

If I put the vent position on the windscreen, I have full control of the fan speed.

I have tried changing the CC control panel for another, but it didn't cure the problem, so I can only think it's the speed resistor, but still a strange problem?!!?!?!?

Omega General Help / 3 Fault Codes
« on: 22 December 2007, 13:35:55 »
OK, maybe ignoring my previous post about the coil pack mounting bolts........

Maybe this is why I struggles to start when it's cold......

The car has 3 fault codes logged;

135 - That's the actual check lamp itself, it's warning of low voltage

57 - Idle Speed Control Valve Intruption

73 - Air Flow Sensor Low Voltage

Anybody got any ideas as to why suddenly all these are showing.  There where no faults originally, before I changed the coil pack.   Maybe i've upset the loom somewhere????

Thanks in advance!

Omega General Help / Coil Pack Mounting Bolts

Are the 4 bolts also used to earth the coil pack?????

I was lazy when I replaced my pack and then after a while the car wouldn't start.  I then noticed that there are exposed metal parts on the mounting holes.

Omega General Help / Re: LSD , what are they fitted to..
« on: 18 December 2007, 18:22:40 »
Best way to find if you have an LSD (apart from looking at the stamp, there is an identifier, can't remember what) is park up with one of the wheels on a grassy/muddy verge.

Pull off quickly, if you don't move very fast and start spitting grass and mud everywhere then you ain't got and LSD.

Also, if I remember correctly..........  Jack the back up, put it in gear and spin one of the wheels by hand.  If the opposite wheel turns in the opposite direction it's not an LSD, if it spins in the same direction it's an LSD.  Anybody back me up on that?????

Omega General Help / Re: DIS Pack - Non Genuine

Damn thing is toying with me now!  ;D

No more misfire (at the moment), but it was refusing to start this morning...............  Until I begged it, then it finally fired up!

Well, well, well.......

I'm not 100% sure yet as I've not had a good look.

However, on the way home, it only misfired until it was warm then it was fine........

Got home and looked at the washer jets.  I hadn't used the washers today, however, the jet above the coil pack had some water around it.  I've got a feeling that it is the washer pipe, probably a dodgy non-return valve or just a leaky pipe.  Of course, if water comes out of a leak, it may continue to flow.

I have a feeling that water is coming out and is leaking down on top of the coil pack.

I bet a garage or a dealer wouldn't of found that.

Like I said, I'm not 100% certain, but it's all starting to make sense..........

No, but I'm begining to think that water is getting down there. Somehow....

Maybe more water has got in there.

OMG!  Brain wave..........!  Sometimes the windscreen washers don't work.........  The pump runs, but no water comes out for about 30 secs.  I'm wondering if there's a leak from the pipe and it's soaking the top of the coil pack..............  That would make sense......

Don't think it's a genuine Bosch one.

Thing is, it was working fine..........

Before I completly lose the plot, I'll be looking to make sure a lead hasn't popped back off.

Then I'll be mostly doing a John Cleese moment, hitting with a tree!

Omega General Help / DIS Pack - Non Genuine
« on: 18 December 2007, 11:27:04 »
Changed the Coil Pack a few weeks ago (2.5 V6) and it cured the misfire I had, in fact, this is the coil pack I removed;

As you can see, it was mullered.....  So the new coil pack did the job, or has it?  It ran fine, but I didn't drive the car because the MOT had run out, so a couple of days later, I took it for the MOT, car drove fine to the garage and back from the garage.  The car had failed, so I waiting for a new strut to arrive (shock was knackered) and fitted it along with cleaning up the seized rear calipers.

A week had no passed and I took the car for it's retest, again, it drove fine.  However, on the way back from the garage the misfire has returned...............

Angry????  I almost kicked the damn car!  ;D

Has anyone else had problems with using a non-genuine coil pack???????

Thanks

Craig

Omega General Help / Re: Anyone done *rear* suspension geometry?
« on: 18 December 2007, 18:27:24 »
That is an old common problem, however, a good garage should be able to free them.

Usually, they just heat them up with a welding gun, that free's them........

I'd take it somewhere else........

Last time I had mine done they were seized and they freed them and was all included in the price.  £50 for a 4 wheel geo setup.
