« on: 21 January 2008, 21:33:13 »
I have seen a gearbox for sale which is the pre 2000 model and just wondered if i could fit it to my 2000 W reg 2.0 Omega without any alterations needed to it.

Hi, Can anyone please tell me if a 2000> auto gearbox is the same as a <1999 auto gearbox?
Thanks

The dash illumination is turned right up and everything lights up as normal on the dash when the lights are switched on except the gearstick lights  :(  And when the lights are switched off, the gearstick lights illuminate once again lol, Its an unusual one.

Yes it is strange, i checked the fuses last night and they were all fine. Would the problem with the lights on the gearstick not lighting up when the lights are switched on have anything to do with the gears not engaging into any gear do you think? Are there any relays or sensors in the gearbox that would maybe cause this to happen?

Is it just co-incidence that the power steering has given up at the same time and when the lights are switched on the gearstick lights dont light up and when the lights are switched off, the gearstick lights up once again as you go through the gears. Could all of these issues be linked or am i just having lots of bad luck?

Ok thanks ill do that tonight.....fingers crossed

Hi,
I have just bought an Omega 2.0 with an auto gearbox 2000 w reg. The car starts great and idles perfectly. When selecting any gear the car does not engage. It is not making any noises or responding in any way. Does this mean that the gearbox or clutch is completely gone or could this merely be an electrical problem?
Thanks
Lee.
