Omega General Help / Ignition Barrel & Steering
« on: 28 July 2008, 21:47:02 »
I can't post  in the wanted section but I'm really having difficulty getting hold of an ignition barrel/steering lock assembly for a non-adjustable column.  Are these really rare? Does anyone know of a non-adjustable column being broken?

Thanks
Al

Its number 1 or number 6, whichever is the one at the rear of the engine.

Is there much fuel pressure that goes through the spill pipes?

Its the one thats blanked off which has snapped so i wonder if i can block the hole using some chemical metal?

I stupidly snapped off one of the small metal outlets for the spill pipe on one of my injectors.  Firstly how easy is it gonna be to change and secondly does anyone have one they'd like to sell me?

Many thanks

Alistair

I can only think that i'm gonna have to smash the barrel out with a hammer/screwdriver and then source a second hand barrel & key.  Do the 95 omegas have an immobiliser in the key?

Thanks

Alistair
borderline on a 95 - is the remote ir or rf?

Its deffo IF

I've spoken to a mechanic friend and he seems to thing he can remove the barrel by drilling  a hole in the housing so i'm gonna let him do that tomorrow!!

Thanks very much for all your help!!

No joy with the WD i'm afraid, got the cowling off but i cant see how to remove the barrel? are the burrs on the tumblers within the barrel? do i need to dismantle the barrel? (once i worked out how to get it off that is [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif])

Thanks for your help!!

A squirt of potion will do no harm. It sounds like your balls have stuck ;D
Give at squirt and run the key in and out a few times and try again.
Do you have a spare key to try by chance??

I've tried the spare key, just off outside now to give it a WD40!!

Is it worth squirting WD40 down the lock I wonder?? :-/

Do you think it would do any harm?

Yep, been rocking the wheel whilst turning the key back and forth, just wont disengage!!
