watcha campers!

right, got a problem with my Philips CCR 2000 headunit. last year the battery went flat and i lost radio and cd on it. it says CDC SAFE when i try to access the disc changer. i rang up vauxhall and got a code for it whih unlocked the radio but the disc changer still says CDC SAFE.

can anybody help me out with some suggestions please?

Chances are the oil will have damaged your spark plugs and leads if leaking for a while so seriously worth thinking about changing them...if the leads are damaged they will end up taking out your dispack otherwise.

so i should change the leads aswell as all the other parts too?

the amount of items needed to do job bud !! :y

thought so, was just making sure.

all in for all of those parts from my vauxhall dealer is £165.

if i dont order:-

Gasket, Inlet bridge to head
Gasket, Inlet to Inlet bridge
Gasket, Inlet to Plenum O rings

which i may not need it'll come to £84

do you reckon i should order just the:-

Rocker gaskets
O-rings
Sealent, Black

and try my luck? dont really want to waste £80!!

in the other thread regarding the parts........

Rocker gaskets: 90511451, one set per bank (£25+ Vat retail)
O-rings: 90411826, 8 per bank (13p+ VAT retail)
Gasket, Inlet bridge to head: 90501652, 2 off
Gasket, Inlet to Inlet bridge: 90501653, 3 off
Gasket, Inlet to Plenum O rings: 9118135, 6 off
Sealent, Black (not the Green stuff!): 90485251, 1 off

when it sas, 2 off, 3 off 6 off etc what does that mean? sorry if it seems a stupid question, i just want to be clear about it.

sounds to me like cam cover gaskets have gone, sure fire way to check is to un plug one of the spark plug leads, the wells will be filled with oil. if your confident with diy car stuff can be done in a couple of hours.

regards

unplugged one and it is drenched in oil. i'm confident enough to do the job myself. thanks for your help!

Mayo on filler cap is most likely because you do short journeys...is that right???

Oil leak will be cam covers...plug holes will be the spark plug holes mate :)

yes you're right!! lol! lovely jubbly!

Check your dipstick for mayo if its not on the dipstick it is what the other lads are saying

dipstick is fine, no mayo substance.

lovely jubbly so far! thanks for all your help and input so far people, i really appreciate it.

so, now that we've isolated the problem, what parts do i need and where should i buy them from? you lot are the experts i'll follow all your advice and i'll get it fixed asap with your help. i will be doing the work myself but would still appreciate any ponters or any extra info you can give me.

thanks! :y

thanks kevin, didn't know that.

gary, are you on about the spark plugs?

i have the oily-mayo substance all round the oil filler cap. its thick with it. the water in the header is cloudy but has no oil mixed in.

the oil is coming from the back of the engine on the drivers side near the brake servo.

does this bit of info help anymore?

thanks for your help so far lads ;)

as the title says, my headgasket has blown on my 2000 v reg 2.5 v6 auto engine (petrol). its pushing oil out constantly now which is smoking and burning off on the manifold which is quite annoying.

i need to know what parts i will need all in to replace the gasket. i'm guessing that valve stem seals, rocker gasket, o rings etc will have to be changed and the same time. has anybody ever had to do this, if yes, could you write a list of what i'll need and where the best place is to get it all from.

if anybody needs any more info before they can help me with my problem let me know and i'll reply straight away.

thanks everyone

Bren
