After reading through this I think I will try changing the crank sensor. Where can I pick one up at a reasonable price?

Sorry, dont know about 2.2DTi ones. Certainly v6 ones are often heat related...

It's somewhere to start cheers  ;)

Would THIS be worth getting?

The 2.2 DTI does not respond to the paperclip test or a lo of the generic code readers.
You need either proper tech 2 or one of the better generic readers to get the diagnosis right.

If it comes up with a fuel pump not getting a speed signal problem try the crank sensor before changing the pump.

Best of luck,

Steve

OK thanks Steve,

Would the crank sensor be affected by heat? I have diven the car 3 or 4 times now and the error has appeared after 3 miles each time?

Hi all,

I've just developed an engine electrical fault on my 2001 estate (Only owned the car a week!) The light seem's to come on when the car is warm and once on the car goes into what I think is a safe mode and the rev counter stops working?

I realise that I will have to get the ECU checked for error codes but does this sound like a common (Or expensive  ::)) fault and does anyone know a good auto electrician in South Birmingham?

Cheers,

Mark

Seem's like I'm only posting problems up here but I'm afraid that's all I've had lately  ::)

Can anyone please point me in the direction of a how to or tell me how to change "fuel return pipes/bleed pipes or leaking injector seals" as I'm being quoted a lot of money to do this and it may not cure my air leak/starting problems  >:(

Cheers,

Mark

Do you have trouble starting when parked uphill or anywhere?
My Vectra 2.0dti had the same problem and it was the leak off pipes which run from injector to injector and then down to the fuel pump. When they age a small amount of air enters the system and pushes the fuel back to the tank making it a pig to start as you are pumping fuel from the rear of the car and bleeding the air out at the same time.

Yes mate uphill or even on a slight incline. I moved over 1 carparking space at work the other day and it wouldn't start on the evening   :o

Omega General Help / How true is this?
« on: 31 March 2008, 19:52:09 »
A quote off the net, I may need to o this very soon  :(

"One problem I have come across is the injector seals leak allowing the diesel to flow back to the fuel tank. This makes it almost impossible to start the engine when stood for some time, and its expensive to fix, with specialist tools needed, what a surprise! So take care if the one your looking at is hard to start. It may just be glow plugs but its worth checking."

Might also be worth lifting the panel in the boot floor and checking the fuel lines as they emerge from the tank. These have been known to rust on petrol models and I guess if there's a pin hole in there it could draw air which will play havoc with the injection system. :-/

Kevin

Thanks mate will look there also  ;)

Yes I've filled the car right up and it's still the same. No problem at all if parked facing down hill  :-/

You have got enough fuel in it haven't you!?! i.e. it's not all draining to the back of the tank?

OK she's still not starting can anyone point me in the right direction for checking the bleed pipes please?

Are the injector seals washers?

Thanks,

Mark

Bleed off pipes are under the plastic tray bit on the passenger side (easy to see once the plastic plate on the cam cover is removed)

And yes, the injector seals are just that!

OK thanks for that I'll take a look in the morning.
