Omega General Help / Re: Spare Keys
« on: 15 February 2009, 20:15:02 »
Cheers guys, I'll have a dig around. I'm aware that the key I have has a long digit code that changes with each use so I'll investigate further based on that. If I can come up with a step-by-step guide of how to gt everything you need etc. I'll post it.

Couldn't agree more. So, where did you get it programmed?

Sounds good (and affordable). I know I can obtain blade/transponder from local key cutter, but do you know where I can obtain a fob and where I can get it programmed (is that a VX job)?

Omega General Help / Spare Keys
« on: 15 February 2009, 19:32:23 »
Hi, I need a spare key for my 2000 Elite (Car only came with one and nervous about losing/breaking it).

A few threads exist on the topic but nothing definitive. Can anyone offer a solution to obtaining a complete one; transponder with central locking and immobiliser buttons etc. for less than £50?

Cheers Mike, won't know if all good until I'm back in Mids with right tools, sure it'll be fine though, thanks.

Hi, the one I'm looking for is front passenger - current one has 605328 written all over it. If someone can advise that would be brilliant!

1 - Solenoid

I'm looking for a replacement central locking solenoid for a 2000 Elite, passenger side.  Old one functions but is basically shot (somebody forced it and it didn't like it). Genuine part is £65 - no thank you, but if anyone has one or know's where I can get a spare for around £20 I'd be appreciative. My breaker searches have turned up very little.

2 - iPod in-car FM transmitter

Can anyone recommend a suitable iPod converter that would suit an Omega's internals . I'd prefer one with a cradle but am conscious that the ashtray would scupper the chances of it sitting rightly.

Had my Omega 5 months now and having previously spent 3 years on the motorway in a 1.2 8v Corsa (no elec windows, no p-steering, no airbags, no power) it almost brings me to tears every time I drive it.  Here's to good mental health, cheers ;)

Omega General Help / Re: Cigarette Lighter

Thanks Baron, I'll have a go with a seperate plug-in and see what the result is.

Can you dispel/confirm a myth in the meantime. I was once told not to use the rear and fron lighters at the same time otherwise I would have dire electrical consequences and that it was always better to use a multi-adapter in the front only.  Do you believe that this holds true?

Omega General Help / Cigarette Lighter
« on: 03 March 2008, 19:36:43 »
My front Cigarette lighter has ceased to function.

I initially tried it with a phone charger and it seemed to work fine - the phone was charging beautifully.

2nd time, the charger's light flashed and then went out.  The lighter now appears dead.

Can anyone advise? I'm on the understanding that the ciggy fuse is shared with a number of other things, which themselves haven't ceased to work. Have I blown something?

Newbie Welcome Area / I FINALLY own an Elite
« on: 03 March 2008, 19:31:17 »
Hi,

Well after over 3 and a half years of being trapped in a 1.2 8v Corsa I've finally managed to get the right lifestyle to buy the Blue Elite that's parked up the road. And despite knowing everything that an Elite is kitted with (most recent car didn't even have a rev counter), I'm still absolutely blown away at the value for money relating to the kit-count.  I've been an Omega owner for 1 week now and have driven London inside out since (and found a few more petrol stations).

Seriously, anyone who thinks they're expensive to run should always bear in mind the equivalent 5 series or A6 purchase costs and pat themselves on the back knowing they got a bloody bargain.

Mine's a looker on a 2000 plate with what seems like every conceivable extra, and if it cements my adoration, EVERYONE who has sat in it so far has had to remark that it's a hell of a lot more than they were expecting... every critic's a badge snob!

Sorry to go on guys, on my first posting, but I'm chuffed.
Plus I've been looking on this site for a long time using the buyers guides to bag the bargain in the first place - so belayed thanks.
