Many thanks for this

I guess this would give the electrical burning smell and  the bit of smoke i noted from the nearside. Also the squealing for about 5 secs before i drove off (broke down 10miles later)? and felt like it was running on only 5pots.

Reading posts is this quite comon?

If its not that what would i look for next? I know it would help having the codes, but i am trying to pre guess it before i drive 120 miles to have a look at it

Many thanks

Chris

Omega General Help / Breakdown - Any Ideas

Hi Guys

Last night (1am) i broke down on the M11. 120 miles away from home. the car was towed to the nearest garage. my brother came and picked me up.

Before i go back anybody got a clue on whats gone wrong, where to start looking

Right the car is a 2.5v6 auto on a r plate

When i parked up at stanstead, i hear a whining noise very briefly. Thought nothing of it, when i left the airport to come home. the engine felt slightly rough. like it was missing on one cylinder

Got onto the motor way, ( i had no option to push my luck and try to get it home) the car became ok, felt slightly down on power but not much.

Then all of a sudden the engine management light came on and then the engine just died. Non of the usual bang bang as if the engine was disintergrating.

When stopped, there was a smell of electrical burning, little bit of smoke. the car turned over fine but just wouldnt start back up. My personal feeling is ht leads, coil pack or distributor

Any views on here before i go 120 miles back to try and fix the dam thing

Many thanks

Chris
