Omega General Help / Rear Shock Absorber Mounting
« on: 07 September 2017, 21:38:21 »
2.6 MV6 2002 Had N/S Rear Shock Absorber go up through the top mounting. Is there a source for the Shock Absorber Mounting Panel that is spot welded into the back panel. Started to look at Breakers but Rust seems to be on ones that l have seen. Can drill out spot welds and remove and replace with new if l can get one in good condition. Is it the same mounting on O/S or in Estates

Omega General Help / Re: Fuel Consumption
« on: 05 January 2016, 21:12:51 »
Thanks for the answers. Maybe the CDX was just good. Have to strip to do cam gaskets when l get a chance so will see if anything changes after that. Expect the plug apertures are filled with oil. Cheers all.

Omega General Help / Fuel Consumption
« on: 04 January 2016, 21:35:56 »
After having 2 Carltons am on my 3rd Omega. Now have a 52 plate 2.6 MV6.
Last one was 53 plate 2.6 CDX. Engine went at 200,000.
Got the MV6 cheap after it had been part exchanges and when spoke to previous owner told me the problems. Fixed by fitting new ambient temperature sensor. Getting Aircon gassed. Oil leak which he told me garage wanted to take engine out to find. Fixed the cause which was the breather blocked but yet to do the cam gaskets which it had blown. Garage wanted more than l paid for the car. Have added cruise control off previous car. Problem l have is for the same engine this seems to do way less mpg. CDX on run to London would do 32-33, lucky if l can get 27 out of MV6. Putting foot down goes to 7 mpg which l dont think l ever saw on CDX. Only other car got worse than this was a Volvo T5 which you could take nearly to a 100 without it coming out of 5 mpg. Was always a challange to try and get 4 but was a directors car so was fair game. Is there something different from the CDX to MV6 or is this what others expect to get. Is 7 mpg normal and if not any ideas as to where to look for solution. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Omega General Help / Central locking drivers door
« on: 24 June 2008, 09:20:50 »
Ive read loads of mails on central locking but cant find any that relate to mine.

Front door does not lock or unlock on fob. The button stays down and cannot even pull it up. Can lock and unlock door with key but harsh click and the button still stays down. Have tried pulling button up whilst opening but will not budge.

Anyone have any ideas as to which part is giving me grief.

Omega General Help / Re: Omegas and Camber:- Explanation

When l purchased car recently went to have balance and tracking done.

National would do balance but told no point in doing tracking as camber all out. Recommended Supertracker in Southampton. Have latest wireless type equipment and are also manufacturers of equipment. Car now drives completely different. Get a computer printout showing before and after settings.

Newbie Welcome Area / I'm new to this
« on: 06 April 2008, 12:26:04 »
Have just joined the forum.

Have had 2 Carltons and an M reg Omega 2.0L which l have just scrapped after head gasket blew after 180k. It had been well thrashed.

Have just bought a Silver 2.6i CDX Auto which is very late. Registered in Aug 03 so is on a 53 plate.

Goes so much better than the 2.0L.

Has 101k on the clock but was a great buy, value for money they have a lot going for them. Last owner did 36k in last year so should all be good mileage.

Had the alarm problem when l got it and thanks to forum was able to replace sounder.

Just had cam belt etc, plus water pump changed as can find no history of ever being done. Took the easy option and put in garage though a engineer by trade (now company vechicle is a 13M coach).

Want to put a rear spoiler on it. What looks best and from who?

One other problem is rear window seems to have lost its way and does not close all the way. Any easy answer to this?

Just going to work. Taking coach for a ride on ferry to Isle of Wight so easy day.

Will check out replies if back in time today.

Thanks to Mike l am now up and running again. The rain stopped just for me.

No one can convince me that this car had Oil Filter changed at its service or at any service.

Was going to put pictures in to show the difference in Oil Filter Housings but cannot find how to do it.

Got Housings from Mike last night and will be fitting today rain permitting. Back to a paper element but will get me back on road. Are differences in housings so will post pictures if l can to show why had problems. Will have to try and source a Connector before next oil change.
Tried all different dealers and never was able to source Connector. Talking about 2 weeks at least. Have posted on all Breakers sites but have not had any response. What was a quick job turned into a nightmare.

Thanks. That seems a good solution at this point in time.

Will then make sure l have sourced a connector for next filter change.

How will l collect

The problem l encountered today was because the internal screw came undone so the paper filter housing just spun round. Took ages drilling holes all round before l could break it open to get it off. Maybe they are all as loose.
