Not wanting to hijack Canon's thread, but seeing as I said I'd post diagnosis....I got 335; 340; 352 or, as far as I can gather, Crank sensor; camshaft sensor; Ignition coil 1&2. Perhaps someone could confirm? All look pretty scary and obviously thoughts, input, advice gratefully received.

Bizarre. Symptoms described are almost exactly same as those which occured last night on my (facelift) Wreg 2.0 16v GLS auto. ECU light came on and lost power trying to negotiate slow left turn. Gave it a few minutes and crawled 8 miles home with ECU light on all the way. This morning ECU light was intially off but soon  come on and has remained on while idling. Engine cuts out while idling too. I'm puzzled as you appear to have done paperclip test but according to the FAQ decription this can only be done on pre facelift models.

Great, thanks for the advice guys, sounds like a job I could have a go at myself. I've not seen a Haynes manual for the facelift model,  am I safe to assume the manual for pre-facelift is applicable - at least for 2.0 16v engine issues?

Thanks TB. Any idea how this relates to other 2 faults? In other words is fixing this likely to sort the other two probs? Is it a big / expensive job? DIY-able for someone with some/limited mechanical knowledge? Cheers.

Paperclip diagnosis: 335; 340;352 on my W reg 2.0 GLS auto estate.  As far as I can gather these faults denote crank sensor; camshaft sensor; Ignition coil 1&2. Perhaps someone could confirm?

New timing belt/water pump done 2k miles ago by independent garage. Did 300 miles yesterday without a murmur then on a short local trip EMS light came on, off, on aain then car stalled on a slow left turn after rev counter appeared to go momentarily haywire :o. Managed to get home with EMS light staying on and now car cuts out when idling.

Thoughts, input, advice gratefully received.
