Remember years ago (80's)  the best deals where the last minute ones.

One couple used to go to east midlands with luggage for hot or cold travel.

They once had 10 day in a 3 star hotel somewhere  for £3 each they said.

I saw on social media a link to something that travel agents use to book flights — some kind of dedicated system with fixed or discounted prices — but I can’t find the information again.

I already use the usual Google Flights, Skyscanner, etc., but I get different prices every time I recheck. The way the algorithms work and adjust pricing feels very manipulative and profit-driven.

Basically, I’m looking to see if anyone can offer advice on how to source better-priced flights.

I’m aware that airlines sometimes drop prices on Tuesdays, and that booking in advance is usually cheaper as they try to fill seats ASAP.

Our problem is that we often need flights at short notice and can’t always predict when we’ll need to travel. :y

Another day at the hospital, wasted this time as the tests they tried couldn't be completed.

Now booked in for another CT scan (Nest Wednesday) with surgery to follow now on the waiting list (Still)

But cant complain as all concerned were excellent. :y

others may be along to give a more presise answwer but to me it sounds like there may be an issue with the drivers door solenoid (causing the unlocking)and maybee the alarm horn is faulty .the one next to where the powersounder lived (the hazards suggest the alarm is goin off but no noise)
No issues with alarm/horn but being a CD level spec not sure if there is one fitted

Battery has gone flat in the key fob

When locking the car we check all doors, then lock (dead lock) the drivers door when checked all doors left locked.

Next time we go to the car drivers door is locked but all other doors are unlocked.

Is this a common problem when the remote battery is flat?

Also when unlocking the drivers door the hazard lights start to flash.

I check train fares from King’s Cross to Doncaster quite often, and they can range anywhere from £19 to £132+, depending on the time of day and other factors—so I know exactly what you mean about how expensive they can be.

It’s the same with flight comparison sites for journeys to and from Heathrow or Manchester to various destinations; prices can vary drastically.

Saw prices yesterday for one-way flight from Turkey to LHR £28 (Economy). Checked Skyscanner to compare, etc., and slightly higher.

Today’s same details, the flight is now £89.

But from what I learn, the algorithms are working against us as usual to favor the market’s prices (rip-off Britain as usual). :-X

Rather a ridulous statement - the emergency services would NEVER approach the scene of accident by travelling against the direction of the traffic flow

Totally disagree there.

On the M1 few years ago all lanes where at a stand still and recovery services came up the wrong way directed by the polite to recover a broken down car.

In all fairness because there was no moving traffic at the time I dont see what the problem was - would have taken a lot longer coming the other way.

Plus I have seen the police reverse down the hard from an M1 exit to a car on the main part of the m1 to a car (probably 300/400 yards on the M1 its self as they passes all the countdown markers.

1 of the things I found out.

from
April 2027, banks and building societies in the UK will be legally required to obtain National Insurance (NI) numbers from all new and existing customers with savings accounts.
This regulation, authorized by the government, aims to assist HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) in automatically identifying and taxing individuals whose interest earnings exceed their personal savings allowance.
Key Details of the Requirement

Applies to Savings Accounts: The new rule encompasses standard savings accounts and ISAs with subscriptions.
Does Not Apply to Current Accounts: The requirement currently excludes standard current accounts, although this could change in the future.
Purpose: HMRC struggles to match a significant portion of interest data from banks, hindering automatic tax collection. The NI number requirement will improve data matching, allowing HMRC to collect the correct tax more efficiently, often through tax code adjustments.
Impact on Savers: For many, this will simplify the process as any tax due on savings interest will be collected directly through their pay or pension via PAYE, potentially eliminating the need for a self-assessment tax return.
What if I don't have an NI number? If you are not eligible for an NI number, you must inform your bank. Otherwise, providing one will be necessary to open or contribute to an account after the deadline.

You can locate your NI number on documents such as payslips, P45s, or P60s, or online via your personal tax account on GOV.UK

I remain open minded, but have learnt a lot regards Tax. CGT/VAT and the rest, then go checking to confirm.  Gives an insight which direction to go legally.

Same regards pensions, personal/business savings etc the list goes on.

Media suggest chatgbt is poor and many others are far superior, but learning as I go.
