I fitted my head unit into the car a month or two ago and not really bothered with the radio but recentley went to listen to it and the reception was quite poor, tried the obvious like cleaning theback window in and out and checkin the connectors but still no better. I think my problem is that the standard aerial runs to the front of the car to behind the head unit (obviousley   ) but my main control for the head unit is in the boot so I've got the wire running back down the car. I'm thinking due to the length of the cable run this isn't helping so was looking at cutting the lead near the back of the car and fitting into the control unit. I think I've found the wire a thickish grey one that runs along the back passenger side wheel arch I just need the nod of confidence before I start cutting it  :-? Anyone know if this is the right one?

Alright I'm looking at changing my head unit in me Omega for me DVD one out of my Vectra. I've got the adaptor for the wiring loom (ISO) so I can work the new unit from the steering wheel controls and was told I could either have the display or the controls working due to me new stereo being Kenwood, but I've read on here that you can cut some wires so the display shows the date all. Just wondering if anyone could enlighten me as to which wires these are? ;-)

if it lets me down agian this Saturday with alf a dozen tidy lookin girls stood there waiting for a lift home then it may well be advertised in the Car/Parts for sale section first thing Monday morning

Sharing the love would be okay if I was getting some of the love but unfortunatley I'm only the knight in shining armour who takes them out and about and looks after them makin sure they don't get bothered by any scrotes. Just another use for my delicate 19 stone figure and at the end of the day it looks good for my image walkin into the pub with them :-P

Problem is now sorted or at least thats what I hope. Had my window replaced (the one I smashed in order to get the lad who had climbed in through the boot with the keys and susbidentley got locked in the car when someone shut the boot) and locked the door with the key fob, the alarm LED stayed on constant and then flashed in a normal manner. So by my reckoning when I parked up on Saturday night one of the doors wasn't fully shut thus causing what would seem to be super sensitive sensors inside the car to trigger, this wasn't heard by me 'cos I was in a basement of a club stood next to a 2000W speaker :-/ this caused the initial drain on the old battery. The drain on the new battery would prob be cos when I temporary covered the window with a bit of plywood there was a gap, agian this would effect the sensors and drain the battery and also show up on the LED that something wasn't quite right with the alarm. So fingers crossed that now all my windows are intact and the fact that I am the original village idiot all will be well with the car. But if it lets me down agian this Saturday with alf a dozen tidy lookin girls stood there waiting for a lift home then it may well be advertised in the Car/Parts for sale section first thing Monday morning

Right think I'm getting to the bottom of this now left the car unlocked at work all day yesterday and the battery was fine at the end of the day. Had a read through the manual when I got home and it says that when you set the alarm it does a 10 second "self test" and if the LED flashes within this time it indicates theres something wrong with the system so gonna take it to Vauxhall and see if they can tell me what it is.

Right tried the car agian this mornin and no life in the battery jump started the Omega of me Vectra and got to work. Put a multi meter on the battery and it seems to be charging okay was getting a reading of around 13.56v so from that I 'm assuming the alternator is working and charging the battery. I've left the car unlocked in the car park so this will eleminate the alarm from the circuit this way I can see if the alarm is drawing off the battery gonna give it til dinner then check the voltage agian. Will keep you all updated

get a dc volt meter, u can get a chep one £5. set it to dc volts, connect across the battery with out the engine running, record the reading 12 to 13 volts ish it will read, start the engine  see what it reads now. as u rev the engine the volts should rise if every thing is ok to 13 to 14.5 v dc. if it does  its charging ok , so you fault is something draining it.  if ur in madchester send me a pm c if i can help u out . steve

Thanks for the offer mate going to get it in work 2moz and get the front end up a bit so I can crawl/see underneath just to make sure its nowt obvious like a + supply hanging down somewhere and got a meter in there so will try that, but may PM you if I get stuck   ;)

Yeah I got a new one fitted this mornin got it from a place I've used before on my Vectra so know they're alright. But my thinkin (which isn't always the brightest) is that when I pulled onto the car park last night I could've dislodge a loose + supply to something and its now shorting out on the chassis somewhere. Its gotta be something big to drain a brand new battery that quick wouldn't of thought a dodgy alternater would even do it that quick  :-?

Just bought me Omega last week and its been running great but went out uo town last night and when I came to come home the battery was completely dead nothing, zilch, nowt. Eventually got into the car by sending a skinny mate through the boot and back seats. Anyway put the jump leads on and fired up no problem, this morning went out to the car and the exact same thing except no skinny mate so had to drag my delicate 19 stone figure through the boot anyway went and ot the battery checked and they said it was knackered so bought a new one fitted it and off I went on my merry way. Parked the car up and went out for a couple of hours and then went to go out in the car... guess what no power, the battery was completely flat agian but fortunatley this time I could open the door with the key. I've been driving the car all week with no problem starting, its always started 1st time everytime. The only thing I can think that I've done different was to park on a council car park which wasn't the best or flattest of car parks ie potholes and divets I'm wondering if I've dislodged something under the bonnet and its shorting out, I can't see anything obvious from the top. Anyone any ideas as to what it could be to drain the battery that quick?  :-/

Alrighty just postin me first post here and introducing meself, the names Steve but everyone calls me Chally (amongst others) just moved up from a Vectra LS 1.8 to a Omega CD 2.5 V6 R plate and having loads of fun with it already. Rear wheel drive is definatley the way forward (and sideways)

Yeah head units a Kenwood one do's the Sat Nav, DVD and you can wire up a reversing camera which is what I had set up in my Vectra not got round to it in the Omega yet not got the sat nav set up on it either I use the good old Tomtom for that. It was a right pain in the behind fitting it tho' cos of the lack of space behind think it took about 10hrs and a lot of effin and jeffin but got there in the end

When I bought my house of my parents I was told that the wall ties in the back of the property needed doing everything else was okay, strange thing is though when my parents had a survey done they were told the front of the property needed doing. So to my reckoning the house has mysteriously shifted during the night and corrected the problem and whilst doing that had also pulled all the other houses in the row level to componsate  :-? Like its been said its just a bit of paper to make a bit extra money

When my insurance was due last year on my Veccy I went on a comparison site and get four quotes cheaper by upto £100 and one of them was with the insurer I was already using  :-? Work that one out
