Omega General Help / Oil found in Multiram. . .
« on: 16 February 2009, 11:07:08 »
Hi there
2.6v6 Elite. .
I found some oil in the two ribbed rubber multiram funnels which feed into the plenum at the top front of the engine. There was some mayo in the breather system which i will clean up but i didnt expect there to be oil here. . is this normal ??  :-/  There was about 3 tablespoons sitting in the creases/folds of one of the rubber funnels. There is no oil in the recess under the plenum (a successful gasket change).

0325 - Knock sensor 1, drivers side.

It connects to the loom on the cable tray on the front of the cambelt cover.

Make sure its connected ok and make sure the loom is not near the aux belt (it can get damaged). Other possible is that its been trapped under the aux belt tensioner casting.
connection good, loom not near aux belt, wires are free moving past aux belt tensioner and down the side of the alternator.

did i read somewhere that these sensors are easy to break ? - like just connect them up wrongly and thats it ?

I have just changed the cam belt and tensioners, idler and aux belt and water pump. I reassambled the bits and refilled the coolant level in the header tank to cold level. It started fine and although tappety it revved well.

As i had the plenum off i took advantage of rerouting the coolant via the lpg vapourisor before it went into the HBV. . . .

I took the car out for a gentle spin and halfway down the road the spanner/car orange warning light came on and shortly after the car stalled. i managed to restart and drive back home a little way and it happened twice again before i could get it home.

I am unsure where to go from here - any ideas ? :-/

Hi
Does anyone know what a heater bypass valve looks like for a 2.6 v6 elite 03 plate please (pictures would be a great help)
Also - there is a peculiar pump shaped thing which my coolant is channelled through and it lives under the header tank. Can anyone tell me what it is pls ?

Just bought a cam belt kit from vauxhall stealership, according to the v6 cam belt dvd there should be directional arrows and a marker for the crank pulley notch. Neither exist on the new cam belt and i'm just about to throw my dummy out of my pram. . . are these important ? :-/
