Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Radio Crackle
« on: 20 May 2008, 11:07:52 »
Hello.

Is there an obvious reason why my radio crackles, which gets worse when I accelerate, but with the engine off the radio is perfect.

Only happens for AM stations.

Many thanks.

Omega General Help / Re: Another LAMBDA problem
« on: 19 May 2008, 14:06:58 »
I thought about the scrapyard myself. But I decided that most of the cars in there were probably scrapped due to Head Gasket/Engine trouble, and hence I could end up with a LAMBDA that is no better than the one I already have.

Halfords wanted £92 and Vauxhall dealer wanted an unbelieveable £165.

So I thought it was a good deal!

Omega General Help / Another LAMBDA problem
« on: 19 May 2008, 11:59:22 »
Hello.

Can a faulty LAMBDA cause high fuel consumption?

I have the fault code showing, and a replacement is on the way.

Thanks.

Omega General Help / No Aircon
« on: 15 May 2008, 12:06:50 »
Hello.

I have tried to use the aircon recently and got nothing. There was absolutely no change in the temp through the vents. I have also listened in the engine bay while switching aircon off and on. There is no change in engine noise and no other noises as if something was starting and stopping.

The fuse also seems to be OK.

Is this a symptom of needing a re-gas or is there a more sinister failure in progress.

Any help greatly appretiated.

Omega General Help / Re: Air Leak
« on: 15 May 2008, 12:19:19 »
I have exactly the same problem, and it followed a complete clean of the breathers, throttle body and IACV.

Silly question I know, but by spraying lighter fluid on the 'area' how can you tell where the leak is?

I am pretty sure the LAMBDA is not damaged, melted or trapped. I have "had it off" a couple of weeks back.

Here is one of my related posts.

Yep, temperature always around mid point. Sometimes a little higher, and sometimes lower.

Would the coolant temperature sensor not be showing an engine management fault then?

Already did the paperclip test. Only one code, 0130.

I believe it points to the following on an X20XEV...

P0130 O2 Sensor Circuit Voltage High C-28
P0130 O2 Sensor Circuit Voltage Low C-28
P0130 O2 Sensor Range/Performance C-28

Omega General Help / MOT Failure on emissions. Cat or Lambda?
« on: 09 May 2008, 09:49:53 »
Hello.

Just had car MOT'd and it failed spectacularly on emissions. Here are some of the results at fast idle.

CO %vol 5.979 (should be about 0.3)
HC ppm vol 283 (should be about 200)
Lambda 0.841 (should be 0.97 - 1.03)

The Engine Management Light had been on, and I believe the code points to the LAMBDA sensor. Could the sensor make these high emission figures, or is it likely that the cat has failed and is causing the sensor to flag a fault.

Any advice greatly appretiated.

Omega General Help / Re: High RPM in park
« on: 06 May 2008, 12:51:20 »
Gaskets replaced on IACV and throttle body.

Forgot to say that when going along the motorway this morning, the revs drop and rise, for example 2500 - 2000 - 2500 etc.

Omega General Help / High RPM in park
« on: 06 May 2008, 12:25:27 »
Hello,
Last weekend I cleaned the throttle body, IAC and the small jet. Replaced the small breather pipe as well.

The car no longer stalls, but now, when I put the car in park, the revs go up and down wildly, ie, to almost 3000 then down to 500 and back again.

Any ideas?

Omega General Help / Replacement LAMBDA/oxygen sensor
« on: 28 April 2008, 15:26:26 »
Good Afternoon,

I have a 2.0L 16v Auto Facelift with AirCon.

I bought what I believed to be a replacement sensor, but there are some subtle differences between the one in the car at the moment and my replacement. They both have four wires, but the connector is different. Also, the part of the sensor that sits inside the exhaust is shorter on my replacement. Can I simply snip the connector off the old one and wire it onto the new one, or do I need an exact replacement?

Many thanks.
