i can highly reccommend Vaux Discs and pads, they are very good!  :)

Fitted brand new set to mine about a month ago for £66+ vat for the full set of discs and pads.  :y

Hi,
I assume that's £66+vat per single disc & 2 pad kit for 1 wheel?
Thx

They are not different on that model....and I would recommend Vaux discs and pads if changing and not looking to up-rate things (which can be pricey). I would suggest getting the shoes from a factors, the vaux price for this item is way to high.

If you can get trade club price then all the better:

Front disc and pad set - 93175466 - Retail - £94 Trade club - £66.42
Rear disc's - 90444513 - Retail - £87.00 Trade club - £55.49
Rear pads - 9192126 - Retail - £18.35 Trade club - £10.72

Where are you, there may be a forum member close by with a trade club card.

Thanks Marks,
Big savings with the trade club card then. I assume I have to be trade to obtain one? (I know that sounds a bit obvious!)
Looks like I'll stick with STD parts then, thanks.
I'm in Mid Shropshire by the way.

Cheers....

Omega General Help / 98 MV6 Brakes info & £?
« on: 24 October 2006, 09:03:19 »
Hi all.
I know there are hundreds of websites to browse but does anyone recommend any particular brand of discs & pads.

I'm not wanting to go mad with drilled discs etc, unless someone knows of some very resonable prices.

My car could do with ALL 4 brake discs, pads & rr shoes replacing v-soon!

Model is the 3.0V6 with the 17" Irschmer (grey/silver) wheels. Main dealer told me that rear discs, pads & handbrake shoes are different on that model?? Is he just having me on as I wouldn't expect Vaux to change something like that?

Thanks.... :)

Omega General Help / MV6 Value?
« on: 19 October 2006, 11:54:53 »
Hi all, many thanks to you all last week for the advice on fitting a new HBV, it was great fun!! Hhmmm, a couple of cut knuckles-not too bad!
Anyway, would any of you have a guide-line value on my car?

MV6 Saloon, 3.0.  98 R-Plate, 48k miles (yes, very low), Manual, Cloth, Solid Black ext, Xenons, Sun Roof, Climate, Recaro's, 17" Irschmer alloys.etc..(ALL STANDARD-NOT TOUCHED) Interior extremely good condition (unmarked). Exterior very clean but with usual stone chips, rust bubbles on rear passenger door (just under the window seal strip-not sure why only there). Has service history, was a Vaux dealers car- one service missing? I've had the belts done at 45k ish at main dealer plus full service! Reciepted. Tax & Mot'd.

I've owned it for about 3 years but hardley used it at all in last 2 (had new demo's every week in last job but didn't want to sell mine).

Any idea's on value would be appreiciated.

Thanks again..........

Many thanks for the offer & I'll let you know how I get on. (or probably mail you begging for help!) But seriously, it does NOW seem straight forward & this is all due to this forums help!

Thanks everyone!!

Thanks, I'll pull it apart this saturday & have a look.
Car has only covered 47k miles-genuine.
Do I need any specialist tools?
How long do you think this will take?
Anything to avoid?
I believe the part is £26 ish, Main Dealer I assume?
Is the HBV a replacement unit, ie; do I need any gaskets/seals/o-rings as well?
Sorry to be a pain for asking.

I've been surfing the net for 15 years plus & this is the most useful/time saving/money saving/informative site I've seen for ages.

Thanks....

Thanks again,
I'm no mechanic but will have a look. I have no manual so if you could point me in the right direction how to check if my leak is the HBV. What covers if any need removing? Location? Does this valve lie behind & between the VEE? I've had a look & tried to trace back the cooling pipes/system but.... ok help!

By the way, I'm in Mid-ish Shropshire & have cash! So if anyone knows a good garage/mechanic/mate who's obviously cheaper than Main Dealer then I'm all ears!

Cheers.........

Thanks for the info.
Its leaking but can't see where from! Not had a proper chance yet, 18 miles to work each way, drinks about a litre-only started leaking on saturday. 'Seems' to leak less with all climate control switched OFF. It does leak when not running though. Also, temp gauge is reading correct but MFD does warn me of low coolant.

Cheers....

Newbie Welcome Area / Good morning from the newbie.

Morning all. Looks a good site so far, I found you by searching the net for anyone who has ever had a water leak problem on an MV6-seems I'm not alone!
You've been useful already & I will try to look at my car on saturday to see if I can find my leak. May need some advice there on as my local dealer wants £45+VAT for a "diagnostic check". They then went on to say it was popular to for V6 models to leak from the back of the engine, a 3-way valve??

Anyway, we'll see.

Thanks all.
