What a fabulous epic. I read it for the first time tonight and I'm exhausted. I need to do a cambelt change on my lowly tourer and will gladly drive anywhere in the country if someone is willing to help me with it for the first time? (Crates of Stella etc. will be in the boot) Or if you fancy a weekend by the seaside...
Hello again all of you. I think one of my rear wheel bearings is singing a bit. Has anyone changed one of these? Is it do-able?
BTW I have watched the Cambelt DVD but have still not done it. I must start getting the parts together soon. If anyone is planning a party please keep me in mind...
my second aux fan didn't run when i had the car but it was just stuck, once i'd span it by hand it was fine and has worked ever since. I thought the main and aux fans should come on independantly as temp rose but all 3 come on together. The two aux ones come on as soon as A/c on. Does anyone know where the coolant level sensor is?
I know that you'll all be thrilled to hear that the regas was successful and the air con is working just in time for winter.... Just the exhaust and timing belt and rusty doors to do now....
tut, they weren't the correct o rings so I just took a chance and reused the old ones. hope the second hand condensor is ok... It definately doesn't show the signs of corrosion and collapse of my old one. If anyone does have a need for those orings I mentioned, I have 5 of each , cheap to a good home. Back to the aircon man this week for another go at charging it...
The part numbers I went with for the 2 orings in the union for the condenser were 90508320 and 90508321. They'll be here on Thursday, will probly do it on weekend, will let u know if they are the right ones.... :-/
Hi Markie, I have to change the air con condensor on mine because of the salt corrosion that MarkDTM referred to. Thanks for that pic, hopefully I can recognise the pipes on the Vauxhall parts computer now. I need to replace the o rings in that union you correctly identified as the point to disconnect the condensor. Please let us know how you get on and if you find the part numbers your self.
aaaahhh, so in stead of shorting the wires together I should order the contacts as a separate item? Do you think I could retro fit them to the pads that have not long gone in? Are they available in motor factors or only from vauxhall?
Old Cruiser, I changed the wishbones on mine to stop the clunking. It can't be that easy to spot the wear as it went through the MOT fine. My old man noticed it as I drove back and for against a pit board while he was watching from the pit.
Have just come in from removing the plenum etc for a good clean -- its first ever... but how oh HOW do you get the throttle cable off?? I've been following Ronnie's excellent how to's but I daren't force it any more. I've had to leave the throttle housing under the bonnet help
