Omega General Help / Coolant Level Message

Omega 2.2 cd 2001
I get coolant level Message on Display. After having a look at it, I have come to the conclusion that the sensor can not be taken out and the header tank bottle needs replacing as a unit. I wonder if any of you guys can confirm this.
Thank you
Gascon

cam sensor was changed last month and MAF sensor, changed gbox oil and filter and had ecu software updated.

Vaux said they couldnt clear the codes for some reason, i have a code scout which has shown DTC P0700  & P1700, these relate to the gearbox ecu, i still think that this is faulty.

Also had gearbox oil pressure sensor changed last year!

I had a similar problem on my Omega, same codes and and going into limp mode on starting up, never did it once it was running, changed the camshaft sensor and it made no diference at all, but after following another threat here (Taxidriver) I replaced the camshaft sensor again this time with a vauxhall original part and that did the trick, never had any fault codes since

I was getting P0340 as well tho.....carnt remember Gascon, where you just getting 700 and 1700 or 340 as well??
I was getting code P0340 as well

Hi
I have been having same problem as you, I have the cam sensor and crank sensor replaced and it made no difference.
A couple of days back I had a look at the fuse box checking fuse no 9 and fuse no 26 (Automatic transmission fuses). When I went to pull them out, well, they didnt need much pulling, they were so slack I was suprised they were still in place and had not falling out. With a thin blade tried to push the fuse holder connectors together, replaced both fuses(old ones were ok) but now the new ones feel tighter in the fuse holder.
I have not seen the EML for three days, starts first turn of the key.
The question is , is all this a a bit of wishfull thinking of my part or am I on to something here.
I wont touch anything else for a few days and see what happens

Oh No! It was wishfull thinking fault reappeared today again :-[

Sorry to hear that....... :(

IIRC you also have a 2.2 with the same fault codes?
Have you read the g/b codes to see what they are?

And i think theres another 2.2 on this site with again the same codes  :-/

Hi,
I get same fault codes as you, Ive been using my cheap Tech2 tool to read the codes
Engine
              P0340
              P1700
Gearbox
             p1781 engine torque signal circuit
             p1740 torque reduction signal circuit
p0727 engine speed input circuit no signal
The codes description that I have added are as stated on a codes list that I have

No  is not converted to LPG

And Yes my autobox goes into Limp home mode same as yours. It`s only done 55k.
Autogearbox fluid has not been changed to my knowledge, so that will be next thing to try

Omega General Help / P1700 Code?
« on: 12 October 2006, 03:47:07 »
Hi,
I keep getting this code P1700 Transmission Control Module Requested MIL Illumination.
Actually my problem is as follows:
On starting Engine up sometimes I need to hold key for 6 or 7 seconds instead of the usual instant fire, when this happens I do get the  light on(spanner throught car symbol)  This can happen when the engine is hot or cold. If I switch off and start up again always fires up instantly and the light goes off.
When checking error codes with cheap tech2 I always get
P0340  cam sensor and P01700. I have replaced the cam sensor and I am still getting the same results so the culprit seems to be the other code.
Do you Guys know were should I be looking to do something about this fault?
Thank you
Gascon

Omega General Help / Cheap Tech2 connection problems
« on: 10 October 2006, 03:38:36 »
Hi,
First of all Big Hello to everybody.
I have a cheap Tech2 tool that works well using my PC, however I cant get it to connect using a laptop with a USB to serial converter.
Has anybody got it to work using one of those USB to serial converters? and if so could I please have the details so I can get one.
Thank you

General Discussion Area / Re: Its not my CAM sensor!
« on: 13 October 2006, 12:12:05 »
I had the crankshaft sensor replaced about 3 weeks ago, at the time I didnt relised the gearbox was going into limp mode because I never attempted to drive it, I  just restarted it. I thought it was just a starting problem, now looking back I know is been the same problem all along, so I have both sensors replaced

Cam sensor
Crank sensor
