put a new battery on but it hasn't moved off the drive, couple of things though with her being stood for a while, and having oil in the spark plugs I thought it would be a good idea to let some of the oil into the pistons and turn her over by hand to make sure I didn't crack any piston rings, I have also had an issue with the "straw" like vacum pipes one had a hole or two in it so I have taped it up and can retain pressure.

I've decoked her changed the cam cover gaskets - guide top notch by the way everythings back together and she is running a sweet as a nut but the EML is on permanently ??? did the paper clip test but only gives a 51 then two 61's ?????? 61 being low voltage to fuel tank ventilation anybody got any ideas? or is it possible to reset the eml to off

Cheers for the advice I bit the bullet and borrowed my m8's Halfords trade card saved £25 on a battery ! I unplugged sparkies to find they were having an oil bath so I'm following the Very helpful instructions to replace cam cover gaskets. Once thats complete I strap on the new battery and give it a whirl.

Omega General Help / V6 wont turn over
« on: 03 June 2008, 00:24:51 »
For the last 2 years my V6 has been makin the garden look pretty, I thought it was about time to put her back on the road - so I drained fuel tank, coolant, and oil, changed the filters and charged the battery stuck the key in I have power but engine refuses to turn over - I would expect to here the starter motor clicking if it was shot, its a manual '98 estate by the way. Anybody got any ideas - the fml stays on and does not flash so I don't think its the immobiliser, I can also hear a relay powering on when the key is in pos2 and off when in pos1 I am a bit stuck - like my engine any help would be appreciated.

Omega General Help / oil on one valve V6 estate
« on: 10 June 2008, 21:47:30 »
I'm following the cam cover gasket change guide, got to the point of taking off the fuel rail and thought I would have a peer down at the valves, one valve (in closed position) has a little puddle of oil whilst all the others that are closed are dry is this normal or is it time to worry ?   :o She has been standing for 2 years and apart from oil in the spark plug wells she was running fine before I took her off the road, also there is no burnt oil residue on the valve. Any body have any thoughts ?  :-?

After much swearing I got a torch it would seem a previous owner managed to break a pin and rotate it internally such that a new pin could be fitted, so I unbolted the butterfly from the plenum and moved it to one side ( as some one has suggested I'll have to clean this in situ thanks for the help though everyone
 :) :) :) :) :) :)

Thats what I was expecting to happen, pulled the pin out but the joint's still holding firm ! :-[

13
I'm following the working instructions for removing the plenum, (very good by the way ! much better than haynes !!) I have removed the pin but can't separate the ball joint, I have cruise so dont want to put too much force on the plastic connector, tried 2 screw diver technique but cant get enough purchase, tried levering off the linkage but it started to bend so stopped anybody got any suggestions ? >:( :) :-[
