Omega General Help / Re: steering judder
« on: 07 August 2009, 19:10:25 »
ok had same probs
jobs done
1,new discs and pads all round. helped a little
2, wishbones bushes wear out bad judder prob. (buypartsby best price good quality) marked improvement
3, new tyres all round and balanced with full geometry done by wheels in motion of chesham.
JOB DONE if in doubt and are close enough just go see the boys at wheels in motion well worth the drive.

this may sound like i am blowing smoke up their arses but WIM are simply superb they talk to you explain what they are doing and why, their garage is spotless.
they treat your miggy with the same respect as any of the other motors in there (last time i was there it was a DBS and a 911 (!! oddly the DBS was being weighted down with massive weights lol)

they even retapped a threaded wheel nut no charge and no gripping

Omega General Help / Re: Droning for rear end
« on: 29 May 2009, 17:59:13 »
was reading this topic as my beast started showing the same symptoms
have just replaced the diff so thought it must be the bearing and as i am driving up to wales next week was a tad alarmed at the posibility of having to sort a bearing this weekend (i am really bloody lazy)
untill i remembered  an earlier post on another topic

now it sounds stupid and simple
and yes i really am that simple and stupid.......have you checked your wheel nuts?
turns out i had failed to tighten em properly after replacing rear pads and H/B shoes
bastards were only hand tight
and yes i am a muppet

sorry for delay in posting £170 notes later (+£50 for the diff)
replacement diff fitted and the old girl has a new lease of life also to my surprise at least 70% of the speed judder (45mph-55mph and 95mph-105mph) has gone so possibly a trip to WIM may fix the rest have new wishbones ready to fit already

couldnt wait so pulled her apart at the rear all brakes are fine H/B fine as well.
noise is not constant but dos match road speed not engine revs, still clanks in neutral but does not make any noise in reverse....
also clanked heavily on a down gear change.

ok just read bigdods post ref handbrake
had another play with the old girl hand brake holds the car firm when pulled properly, took her out of drive and tried to turn the d/s wheel which turned very unhappily by the noises it was making,
the noise is consistent with vehicle speed.
going to order new shoes and pads and pull her to bits on monday hopefully this will be the cure if not i shall return!

Omega General Help / clicking from driveline
« on: 04 April 2009, 14:19:58 »
lo chaps been a while.
did the normal sat shop and on the way out of the carpark i noticed a "clicking/clacking" noise from the car when not under power
by the time i got home it had increased in volume and was also happening albiet quieter whilst under engine load.
got her up on stands now and cannot see anything loose (thought maybe bolt on driveshaft was loose).
or could this be from the slush box? she has been starting to clunk into gear and changes arent the smoothest anymore
with thanks in advance

Omega General Help / Re: will my engine be ok after split hose?
« on: 04 April 2009, 18:44:28 »
ok i meant after patch/temp fix if engine is very hot pouring cold water straight in will cause a serious thermal shock that can cause damage but if the engine is running the pump will mix cold and hot better but by now your engine must be cold so crack on lad

sorry for being a pain and not getting all of this joyous information.... ;)
the tortured T has died a death and has been replaced with a V plate GLS saloon 2.5
now would the LSD from the manual 2.5 CDX estate fit into the GLS?
and would it cause any real hassles?
(going to swap wheels as well)
