that'll be me then.

would you like me to come have a look ? I'm probably in your area this coming weekend.

This is what I call Sod's Law !

I'm away from home until 1st May on Holy Island. If you're around any time after that, the answer is obviously a big fat YES !

Thanks for the very kind offer.

Omega General Help / Mechanic in Newcastle/Gateshead area ?

Hi people,

I have a cylinder misfire on no. 6, which I understand could be moisture or oil.

Can anybody recommend a mechanic who will take a look for me ? I live in Cramlington. (NE23)

I've done the pedal test to get the codes, but a couple of garages I've spoken to, say they haven't got the equipment for testing, when all I want is for someone to clean out cylinder 6.

Any suggestions ?

Cheers

Omega General Help / Cylinder misfire advice please
« on: 23 March 2013, 12:13:28 »
Hi all,

I have a 2003 2.6 CD and the engine warning light came on, so I did the pedal test to get the fault codes.

They said:

P0300 Random/multiple cylinder misfire detected
P0306 Cylinder 6 Misfire Detected

As I know nothing about engines or mechanics in general, please could someone advise me about the actions to take to solve this ?

Thanks in advance

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Interior heater problem

Hi,

My interior heater appears to be only working on the passenger side. I only get cold air out of the drivers side vents.

Any ideas ?

Thanks for the replies.

I'll get the fascia checked on the CD and I'll double check the lights with the ignition on.

Thanks again !

HI all,

I've just bought a 2003 2.6CD and I'm sorting out the few little things that need doing.

The interior light (front centre) wasn't working, which turned out to be a loose connection.

Now the 2 lights come on when the door is opened, but when I try and use the reading lights they don't stay on.

If i press and hold the drivers side button, both lights come on, but go out when button is released.
Press again and the same happens with the passenger side only.

Also the eject button on the CD player doesn't eject the CD. It's the 2005 model.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

OK.

The o2 sensors won't stop the car starting.

The 31 is non conclusive, as it happens if engine not running, but can signify failed crank sensor (which will stop a V6 starting)

But could also be an old fashioned fuel/fuel pump/fuel pump relay problem.

Thanks. What do you suggest I do now ?

Should I just call out a mechanic ?

Is there an auto fuel cut off switch anywhere on these ? I remember I had a problem on a car years ago and I just needed to reset the switch. As I said, I'm not engine orientated, so it's all rocket science to me.

Cheers

AND THE WINNER IS..........................

No one.

I got 3 codes:
13
89
31

which I read as

O2 Sensor 1 Open Circuit
O2 Sensor 2 Open Circuit
No Engine RPM Signal

Any suggestions as to what I do now would be gratefully received as I haven't got a clue what any of that means.

Thanks

Phil

P.S. This car used to belong to a member here, as it has a sticker in the back window advertising the club and the road tax holder is branded as well. The reg is T605 HFV if anyone's interested.

Thanks Andy B

I've just been reading about the paper clip test, so I'll try it later and see what I get.

Hi,

The last couple of times I've got into my car, the interior alarm light has been flashing rapidly and it's only stopped after I put the key in the ignition.

I've just got into my car today and it won't start and the engine light is on and it won't turn over. The battery has plenty of power so it sounds like it could be an immobiliser problem.

Is there an easy fix, or is it a dealer job or can anyone recommend someone. I'm on Holy Island in Northumberland.

I'm NOT a techie, so any solutions, please explain in idiot language.

Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated.

Regards

I've just bought a 2003 CD V6 and none of the bulbs work in the fitting like above. Is it usual for them all to have gone or could it be a fuse ?

I can't see anything in the manual.

Cheers

Phil
