Omega General Help / Car cuts out
« on: 01 September 2010, 00:01:54 »
Hi,

Thanks to everyone who has given me advice on this subject, it is greatly appreciated. It would appear that the problem points to the crank shaft sensor and I am told this is reasonably easy to fit. Are there any instructions/diagrams on here anywhere to show me how to fit it? have checked the common problems bit but can find nothing there.

Once again thanks to everyone for their help, hopefully can get this resolved quickly,

Cheers

Hi, I have a '99 2.5 V6 CDX thats always been extremely reliable, until yesterday that is when it decided to break down >:(. The problem I had with it was that the car just kept cutting out as I was driving along, especially at low revs, was almost like it was running out of fuel. The engine light on the dash also came on. I thought it might be the fuel pump but the recovery guy that got me home thinks it could be the idliing valve. Have you guys any ideas what could be the problem?  :y

I am needing a front o/s shock absorber for a 1999 2.5 V6 CDX, nearly fell through the floor when i saw the price of a new one. Does anyone have one kicking around that they are not using? i will happily buy it from you

If anyone has one, please get back in touch asap

Cheers

Hey guys, thanks for responding so quickly.

The noise appears to be coming from the left hand side of the engine as you are looking at it from the front. It's more of a sharp metalic noise, almost like a static spark sort of sound.

Not sure i would be competent enough to try either of the suggestions you made  myself so may have to go down the expensive route and take it into a garage to have it done.

Thanks again for your suggestions, its really appreciated  :y

Probably gonna sound pretty stupid to all you experts out there but as I'm not very mechanically minded i don't really want to mess with anything until i know for sure what it is.

I have a '99 2.5 V6 auto which was running fine when i bought it a few weeks ago but i have noticed lately that when i first fire it up and until it gets fully warmed up, there is a clicking noise that runs in time with the engine. It sounds almost like one of the spark plugs is hanging out or something.

As i said before i am not very mechanically minded and certainly new to V6's, anyone any idea what it might be and what i can do to fix it?  :-[

Mines called Fanny the 2nd, i used to have a Fiesta which i also called fanny but that was written off in an RTA and i got the Omega with the insurance money, so in honour of poor old fanny Fiesta, i called the Omega after Fanny mk II
