Omega General Help / Coilpack to plugs (Order)
« on: 09 September 2008, 22:29:20 »
Now this may be a stupid question but humor me anyway.

Whats the cylinder order between coilpack and plugs.  I appear to have the following but it doesn't seem right,

This is looking at the engine from the front

                                               Coil Pack
                                               5    3    1
                                               2    6    4

                            Cylinders
                                         6
                            5
                                         4
                            3
                                         2
                            1

The right bank doesn't seem quite right with the order or does it matter?

Thanks..

YES!!!!!

Take that window wiper  ;D

Got it off, combination of wiggling and pulling lime mad with an adjustable pliers.

I now have footprints on my engine though  :D

Thanks all.

Anybody got an interesting soloution to removing windscreen wipers?

I've got the drivers one off but the passenger side will not budge, I've dowsed it in WD40 for luck and have been standing on the engine pulling with a pliers and it won't move.... (Its actually kinda funny watching me fighting with a bloody window wiper :D )

Any Ideas?

Omega General Help / Re: Suspension
« on: 05 September 2008, 00:34:57 »
Thanks,

MV6 might be the way to go I suppose, properly designed for the car although might be tricky enough to find one being broken in Ireland.  As long as its lower anyway, I'm planning on a set of 17" wheels and it'll look funny unless its lowered a bit.

Note: I'd like to point out that by modifing I mean, lower it, take the badges off, put a decent set of wheels on it and upgrade the brakes.
As opposed to stick 4 8inch exhaust pipes and an ironing board on the back  ;D

I'm thinking of doing a few little modifications to the omega, nothing major and all relativly tasteful  :P

I would like to drop the suspension maybe 30-40mm but I'd kind of like to do it properly.

Trying to find matched dampers and springs is near impossible (I think)  From what I can tell koni definately made shocks for the omega but not sure if they can still be got?

It'd be a lot easier to just get a decent set of lowering springs and use the standard shocks but would this compleatly destroy the ride of the car then.

Anybody else done any work like this to their car?

My 2.5 was doing the exact same until I changed the plugs & scraped the crap out of the ignition leads & drained the oil out of the plug wells.

But I may have been lucky that is was that simple a fix.

Given the list of stuff thats been changed I'd assume the plugs and leads were changed but if not then they would be the most likely causes not yet eliminated.

Best of luck with it and let us know how he gets on  :y

I was thinking they were found mainly on the cop cars..

So they could have been on anything but pretty unlikely

Thanks.

I was thinking but unsure.

I know ideally I shouldn't be driving it then but will it do it that much damage if I have to drive it for an hour or two to get somewhere that has tools?

Mine seems to get worse as it gets hotter.

Also an awful vibration from it, I can feel the car rocking even when its just ticking over, could it not be firing on all cylinders or would that be more noticable.

Its just confusing me at this stage  :o

watching this thread with interest, as I'm on the same boat as you...

177k miles, hesitant upto 4krpm then gets full power/stops missing...

replaced coilpack, plugs, leads, checked multirams, done allsorts, but still the same...

Interesting, mine also seems to be ok at high revs too although I'm not sure what it should be like really....

missfiring ignition faults etc are not recorded by the ecu btw! so if no faults are found then thats why! its usually the dis pack that dies around 100 - 140k is the lifespan of one

And I'm on 124k so that could also be the problem.

I suppose the best thing to do is start from the plugs and work backwards....

Edit: Paperclip test shows up nothing out of the ordinary.

Oil in the plug well's will be done tomorrow along with the spark plugs.
Will try the paper clip test tomorrow too.

Thanks.
Just me being me...but first time round this as "i'll oil the plug wells tomorrow"...the idea is there shouldn't be any in there!  If there is, then cam cover gaskets need replacing and breathers cleaning out - standard for V6's, i gather..

Allow me to rephrase that, the plug wells will be checked for oil tomorrow while I'm changing the spark plugs :D  :y
