Yep, yep, yep - just had my one replaced (circa. £125 remanufactured) - you might find the steering power assistance goes next :(

mmm, never realised that it lit up but guess it makes sense....
so my facelift Elite doesn't light up, nor the foglight switches or the sunroof - boo !
Must get round to looking at these, then !  ::)

Been here recently....managed to grab a 2nd hand ABS/TC ECU and that lasted about 4 months (Boo !!  :-[ ) so went for a remanufacture.....about £125 all in, then got a guy I know to remove current and refit...... BBA reman are one place that do this, and there are others for similar spend

Well the good news is the repairers called this morning to say all fixed (hybrid lead failure) and it will be with me Monday/Tuesday :)
So we can then look how it was opened/sealed and set to work on the spare !
Realise that it may be tricky, but never say never :D

Yeah, I saw the picture.....my father is planning to take a look at the one currently on the car (retired electronics engineer and a dab hand at this sort of thing...) - the one that was originally on the car and replaced a few months back is on it's way to repairers (went with these guys) so will hopefully get working unit back quickly :) Forced into my Toledo T Sport (not all bad !!) in the meantime, but that is more of a go kart than comfy cruiser :(

Power steering is speed sensitive on the omega... gets lighter the faster you go..... and gets its information via the ABS ECU .. so when that fails the power steering defaults to its "heaviest" setting.

HTH

Ah-hah ! That explains that :)
So BBA reman, here I come....anyone local (~ish) want a fitting job  :D

Eeek ! SO now my Power Steering has died too (whenever the ABS/TC lights are on, which is 90%).....Booo !
Guess this is related ? Sure I read somewhere that the power steering can be affected by this ECU failure (but not sure how !!)...?  :-X

Yep, that's me out of it ^^ on all counts  :o
So I plan to go badger local garages for quotes :(

Hmm, well sounds a little daunting :(
Still, won't really know until opened one up, I suppose.....and then there is finding someone to remove and replace (the chap who did it for me last time is not so keen to do it again, and I failed miserably - Doh !!)

So my replacement ECU seems to be dtingy (boo !!) and so I figured it is time to try to fix it (and the other one !)

Pretty sure I saw a photo from someone (Marks DTM Calib ??) on the internals of one of these, showing the ribbon connector to be the usual damaged part.....

Question is, how does one open these units up - properly ! - so that it can be repaired and put back together correctly ?

One of my rear doors central locking has died, and it now turns out not to be the motor thingy ! Tried 3 different ones and none work, yet all work on a bespoke external power supply....methinks wiring issue ?

So the courtesy light, electric window and speaker all work fine, yet the locking motor does not.....I figure a duff wire in the little bundle that come into the door ?

What I do not know, is how to 'tidily' get access to the wiring - assuming it comes down the pillar betwen front and rear doors - how does one neatly get access before it appears in the flexi-hose into the door ? Do the kick panel plastic bits come up easily ?

Wanted to get some pointers before performing minor surgery on a tidy interior !! Thanks in advance.....  ::)

What HU ?

How does one go about getting the unit open ?

I have replaced mine recently (well, someone had to do it for me  ::) ) and have the old unit - keen to get it fixed....my father is a dab hand with a soldering iron, just not sure how to open it up ?

YAYYY !

Excellent news.......seems that the navigation works perfectly when the ABS/TC light is not on......
So my imminent replacement ABS/TC ECU (tried and failed to do it myself  :-/ ) from the garage guy will make my satnav all spangly again  :y

mmmm, so now I am starting to get hope ;)

The AB/TC ECU is going to be fixed sometime soon - a guy I know is hopefully going to do it - perhaps the gremlins will disappear at the same time  ::)
