Omega General Help / Re: Glovebox is stuck

I followed the instructions referred to by Black Knight above:
http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1214169060

I turned out that there was a broken connection in the latch mechanism.  I improvised by adding a guide to one of the moving parts, so that the movement is transferred.

Thank you all.  This is a very useful forum!

I was afraid so.

Will get back to work.

Glovebox is now open.  I found that there was a horisontal bar at the top in the whole where the handle used to be, and that I could slide this sideways to open the glovebox.

However, it looks like the handle should normally push the plastic lever down to achieve the horisontal movement of the latches.  From the feeling of it, I would guess that the lever is broken somewhere where I can't see it.

Thank you all for the quick replies.  Just another question before I apply "brute force" to the lever behind the handle.  In my car it feels like the (plastic) lever in there is stuck too far down.  I can lift it up to the position where the handle would be able to operate it, but it just falls down again.

Anyone who has had the same experience?  Should I still just force it further down?

Omega General Help / Glovebox is stuck

Tried to open the glovebox today, and it felt like the handle was not engaging the lock.  Then I pulled the handle off (probably not a good idea, but it happened).  Inside (where the handle used to be) it feels like the plastic lever that operates the lock isn't coming back up.  Maybe something has come in between the lock and jams the whole mechanism.

I don't recall what the lock looks like inside the glovebox.  If I had known, I might have been able to manipulate the lock to release it.

Anyone who can help?
