I've got an Alpine which was purchased for about £170. This still has a cd player but also ipod controls and direct mating wire. They were designed in connection with Apple and are fantastic with very user friendly controls. Not sure how the iphone would work with it though.

Omega General Help / Central locking issues

Both my N/S/R and fuel filler cap motors seem to be playing up. The fuel one will not operate at all and the N/S/R has a habit of not unlocking at times. Is it more than likley that the motors have fubared or is there a common fault amongst these.

Its a 2.5 Elite on a W plate if that helps any more.

My feelings exactly. With any luck the connections are eitehr dirty or loose and we have resolve it that way. Failing that it's control box time.

Very bizzare really, lights were on to start with, stopped for fuel and upon restarting they went out. Were good for 77 miles until i "swung" into a parking space and they came back on again. When we picked it up the guy said that if he taps the area they go out...... poss bad connection?

So as long as the breathers are clear and the oil is maintained they are pretty much bomb proof then, cool. Cambelt's i do every other year as a rule any way. Had one snap once and have had nightmares about it ever since. My theropist says i'll be fine as long as i take procautions in the future :-/

Do the old gals have any unpleasant characteristics that need close supervision on, maybe known faults that jump out and bite you on the butt?

Hi tintin i'm also in southampton and will try to help if poss but i will warn you they are a pain in the backside to do.  But i do have access to a workshop and tools(if the boss lets me use it).  If you can get the arm off it will be a lot easier to change as you can put it in a press      on the car is very difficult. Let me know nearer the time and i'll see what i can do.
