Thanks for the info so far.....and yeah meant to say hi to all too!!

As well as a double din unit would I need one of these (CT23VX02A) to make sure it fits ok??

http://www.nexxia.co.uk/Car_Stereo_fitting_kits/vauxhall/omega.htm

All adds to the cost but want to make sure its fits into the dash

Cheers!

Hi all

I am wanting to change the standard double din stereo unit in my CDX and put in a double din one with screen, sat nav, bluetooth etc (like the Kenwood 5220) but just wondered if there where any complications with fitting.

Does anyone know if all double din stereos will fit and can anyone suggest the best ones. My budget is as cheap as possible cos skint, so any advise would help. I have seen some on flebay at £299 which seem a bargain, but think are unbranded so a little cautious!!   :o

Cheers

Cheers all

Seems quite straight forward so will use all your advice and give it a good tug when I get home

And if I have time may look at removing the wheel arch lining too

Omega General Help / How do I remove the wheel arch lining
« on: 25 March 2009, 12:15:24 »
Hi all

I am sorry if this has been covered many times before but cannot find it by searching the threads.

Basically I want to remove the lining under the front wheel arch and can see 2 screws but seems tightly fastened in by something and did not want to just pull at it

Any help would be good

Thanks everyone

Omega General Help / Re: MAF Sensor Signal too low and Multi Misfire
« on: 21 December 2008, 18:53:14 »
Do you think it could be something as simple as that  :-?

Is the misfire something related to the MAF or just coincidence that its having problems at the same time?

I sound so thick about how cars work ......  hmmm maybe I am  ::)

Omega General Help / MAF Sensor Signal too low and Multi Misfire
« on: 20 December 2008, 15:54:41 »
Hi all

First of all can I thank everyone who has answered my questions in the past, not sure I ever said thanks! I still a newbie so sorry for forgetting!  ::)

Now, I seem to have more questions!

I have had a new MAF sensor fitted as I was getting 2 codes telling me a problem on Bank 1 and Bank 2 and seemed the MAF sensor seemed to cure this, however I now have the following codes and not sure if they are related:

P0100-002 MAF/VAF Sensor Signal Too Low
P0300-008 Multi Misfire Detected

My Mig has been pretty much ok although have had a couple of mornings when its been really grotty for about 1 minute with the revs being very low/up and down and sometimes even stalling. Then after about a minute of pumping the revs a little it seems fine and then perfect for the rest of the day!

Any pointers would help as my local garage are not too sure and would prefer to avoid the stealers if I can!

Thanks all, oh and Merry Christmas  ;D

Omega General Help / Re: Tech Codes: P1612, P0173, P0170

Thanks Mark

Gonna sound really stupid now though  :P

What is a MAF sensor? .... and..... I know you said a Tech 2 would determine exactly what the problem is but have I not had the codes read with one of these by my garage?

On a plus side I am having no problems on the setup display so maybe the immobiliser reading is indeed a red herring or old code and my alarm problem is a completely different issue.

Omega General Help / Tech Codes: P1612, P0173, P0170
« on: 21 November 2008, 08:07:05 »
Hi All

More questions I am afraid!  :D

I had my engine management light pop on a week ago and had a Tech II read 3 codes:

P1612-000 Immobiliser no signal or not present
P0173-009 Fuel correction
P0170-009 Fuel correction

I had the codes removed to see if the problem came back, and yes the light is now back on!

Before I take back to my garage, can anyone assist with pointing the garage guys in the right direction rather than having to look at all possible fuel pipes etc?

Also, since then my alarm seems to go off all the time (I have asked about this in another post!) and wondered if there may be something to help from the 1st code?

Not had the codes re-checked yet, but thats my next task, maybe with a little help from you guys beforehand  :y

Thanks

Dennis

Omega General Help / Re: Alarm and New Key - NEWBIE questions!
« on: 21 November 2008, 08:09:04 »
Hi

Thanks for the help so far, I will test the bonnet switch this weekend and see if that sorts it out, if not I will be back!

Also, thanks for the key fob ideas, the fob is fine and all works well so its just the cosmetics on the buttons......a popular bidding site, here I come  ;)

Omega General Help / Alarm and New Key - NEWBIE questions!
« on: 20 November 2008, 12:03:02 »
Hi all

I have looked through the archives but not 100% sure of the answers to my questions so apologies if people end up repeating what they have said in the past.

I have just got my 2001 CDX 2.6 auto and have to say its a great car to drive and loving it!

Just 2 questions, first I wonder where the best place is to get a new key or 2 as the ones I have at the moment are pretty mashed in the button department and so thought a treat of a new key may be best?

2nd question/problem. My car has been on my dads drive for a week or so and has been fine, but when I got it home to my house last night I suffered with the alarm going off every few minutes and ended up locking from the inside. So wondered if there was a way (other than taking to a dealer) to find out why its going off or just to stop it doing it?

I understand there is an internal switch I could use to turn off the inside sensors but would I need to do this everytime I got out the car?

Please treat me as a complete idiot when giving advice, cos what may seem obvious to you guys may seem double dutch to me  :D

Thanks in advance for any help  :y
