I've replaced my previous sony unit with a Blaupunkt HU. Currently it 'forgets' the time and track place when I turn off the ignition - What wires do I need to swap over?

I'm using the autoleads adapter. The Sony unit had a 2 bullet connectors you could just swap over, simple idea but effective!

Anyhoo - Any help to stop my Blaupunkt forgetting? :)

Cheers for that, I'll track a lead down.

The Sony's connected fine, but will I need a new vauxhall connector as it's Blaupunkt not Sony, or are they the same?

Well I'm going to change from mySony head unit as it's starting to cough on MP3 discs I'm using. Eject put, put it back in, fingers crossed - Repeat until it works...

Anyhoo, I'm looking at the Blaupunkt Memphis MP66 unit as this has SD card support.

I'm getting conflicting reports though of getting the steering wheel controls to work, some say there's an Autolead connector out there and others say can't be done.  :-?

Anyone got Blaupunkt after-market head units working?

Didn't even think of looking in the how-to guides!

Will take a look through, thanks for the info!

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Upgrading ICE - Ex plod 3.2
« on: 30 July 2007, 15:13:08 »
Hi all,

I'm planning on upgrading the system in my ex-polizei 2003 3.2. I'm assuming it has the basic system in there at the moment. There was no HU but not a problem as I put a sony mp3 HU I have in.

From what I've gathered on here, most people agree that the speakers in there are pretty good, and with them being quite thin it's better to keep than change them - Is that the case with an ex-plod?

If they're ok, I'm thinking the first thing to do is put an amp in. New to all this, so what sort will I need? just a 2 channel to drive the fronts or a 4 to cover the rears as well?

Any suggestions gratefully received!

OK Mark, thanks.

I'll take a look next time I'm delving around - I'm guessing it's been moved as the plug 2nd from bottom doesn't seem to have anything connected.

Bless thosse law enforcement types!  Still, at least I got an engine with F in the code! lol

I'm such a muppet - I forgot to add the pic.

Here ya go, not sure if it helps a great deal!  :-?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Reconnecting TC switch - 2003 Omega
« on: 19 November 2006, 16:38:54 »
My Omega is an ex-plod car and I tried to reconnect the TC switch today.

Taking a look at the guide for removing the centre fascia, I got that off and was hoping to just connect the switch in the back.

I was expecting a loose green plucg floating around in the console to fit in the TC slot.
No dice, there's already a blue plug in the socket (2nd one up from bottom) there - So what's the green one, and where should it go?

There's no ultrasonic alarm fitted, so I don't think it's the ultrasonics switch.

Any ideas?  I'll try to post some pics soon as!

OK....

So the garage have tested the cam sensor and the crank sensor on the car, and have found that they're supplying the right readings etc.

They had another crank sensor lying around, tested that and it was kaput.

So it seems the cam & crank sensors are both ok - What would be next in line to be checked ?   :-?

Well it's with my garage guy at the moment, so he can read the codes and give me the news.  ::)

Hopefully it won't be too bad, else I'll have to get rid and then find a new car for April.

If it's not the cam sensor then, I'll have a spare when Chris sends it on. Doh!  :-?

Still hoping for a photo if possible :)

Also, when I started her up this morning, there was a whining noise for a minute or two. Sounds like a pump starting up and then turning off - Is that usual?

Just for clarification  ;D

Can anyone post photos of a crank sensor and cam sensor for a 95 3l elite?

Cheers!

Well Chris, I have no idea.
I'm sure one of the resident geniuses will post a picture though after the cam belt party this weekend :)

I've done a bit of digging and it seems advice is to replace them both!  So that's going to be my plan.

Hopefully that's it, as I don't really want to spend too much on it. I'll only keep it a couple of months!   :-?
