and finaly having removed it all could find no fault so plugged it all back in and it all worked and has continued to do so since putting back together.
may I thank everyone for the quality and speed of your replies it has made the whole car repair experience not only bearable but almost enjoyable :):):)

Hi folks  and so for an update ....... the heater is now sat on the desk beside me and when coupled to a battery it roared perfectly into life.  so i now move on to the control box is this the box alogside the fan motor that all the wires plug into and if so can anyone offer advice as to its removal and testing....

Hi People so far so good with the strip down (the car not me !!!)  I can now see the heater motor having removed the glove box and untaped the wiring from the plastic tray but think I need to remove the airbag to get at it clearly, any advice on removal or dis arming airbag will be gratefully recieved before I go back foir round 2 tomorrow, many thanks and regards   Dave

very informative thank you tomorrow I will have a go,  i expect it is well known on here but in south wales we have an excellent vauxhall breaker on the outskirts of caerleon and they only break Vauxhall

Well thanks to everyone for your time interest and comments, I have now checked the fuses and they seem fine inc the large f33 fuse, the digital display on the dash lights up ok including the fan switch little bars showing the speed of the fan, so i assume the power is reaching the switches ok. there is no evidence of water or damp on the footwells so I guess i should now be removing the glovebox to access the motor??? does anyone know the location of any relays beore i take such drastic measures??

Hi to everyone
newbie from south wales here just found your excellent site whilst trwling the web for help with my omega. I have a 2003 2.2 cd with 51k on it all seems fine on the car except for the heater fan the display says it is blowing but it definatly isn,t and all fuses seem fine. maybe a relay?? or the dreaded fan motor?? any guidance appreciated.
I wouldn,t normaly join a forum with a question but i do hope i can contribute something usefull in the future. thanx dave
