Omega General Help / Re: Help im confused about headlights!
« on: 15 January 2009, 20:11:20 »
You have projector headlights by the sound of it. Xenon and HID refer to the actual bulbs which are fitted. You may have (judging by the age and model) aftermarket headlight units. If your bulbs are crap (i would think they are the 55w, pointless, waste of time, dangerous, what bend? aaaaaaagh!!! ones) fit a HID conversion kit (£60 ebay, works with any model, plug and play, so easy my grandma could do it (well, if she wasn't dead, that is)) to get bright blue/white lights which really help with not dying so easily. :y :y :y

Omega General Help / Re: KEY FOBS
« on: 01 December 2008, 10:08:21 »
My original message was a bit misleading i suppose. I didn't actually pay them for being muppets. It's just the cost of a diagnostics check + programming + possibly a new remote would be a lot if i went for it. [smiley=thumbdown.gif]
I shall endeavour to sort it using your advice.

Mornin'
Took my car to the stealers to have a key fob programmed. Took 40 mins to tell me they couldn't programme it.  ;D So i said i would buy a new one. They couldn't programme that one either  :( and said there were no fault codes showing so they would have to book it in for a diagnostics check >:(  Anyone had experience of this? £200 to not open it with a key is getting a bit silly. :-X

Omega General Help / Re: Alarm gewin off

Had the same prob myself with my previous omega. Over come the alarm prob by opening rear passenger door and pushing the lock down on the inside of drivers door. The alarm never went off again. Its just another way of overcoming it. :y

Thanks for that. Just tried it and the alarm hasn't switched on. Therefore, according to my immense amount of grey matter, it can't go off.
Cheers,
Fredsta (now with much friendlier neighbours)

Omega General Help / Alarm gewin off
« on: 24 November 2008, 19:06:51 »
Hi all again.
Since joining this forum i'm remembering lots more things about my car. Weird.
My alarm goes off ('95 2.5 cdx) sometimes when it gets warm (the weather, that is). I'm assuming it's resistor related. Is there a variable resistor somewhere? Or am i pretending that i know something about electronics when all i have is a gcse in cooking?
Cheers,
Fredsta (covered in flour). :-* :-* :-*

I bought some clear projector units on ebay for about 130 squids brand new (depo i think), I have recently seen the same ones for about 300 squids. Might be worth having a look for a while to see if they come up cheap again. :-/ :-/ :-/
Don't be put off by the value of the car - it's worth bugger all in a hedge on a dark night. 8-) 8-) 8-)

Omega General Help / Re: Pre-face headlights

Hi,
Had same problem. Fitted clear lens headlights - no good. Fitted brighter bulbs - no good. Bought an H.I.D. conversion kit for £60 + £10 postage (J.A.M. Performance) on ebay. Plug and play, no modifications needed, easy as you like, solves the problem. Bright blue/white  lights that make you actually see where you are going. :y

I have a small toddler, a small flat and a recycling bucket. Things go missing around here. It's like having an expensive poltergeist.

I've already forked out £70 for a key. Part of that cost was so that Vauxhall could get the info from, er,... Vauxhall.

Anyone have any ideas on how to get a keyfob programmed without getting raped to the tune of £55 by the vx stealers?
Cheers,

Omega General Help / Transmission Oil. To renew or not to renew?
« on: 23 November 2008, 10:02:49 »
Hi fellas and fellaesses,
I was going to change the transmission oil and filter on my 80,000 mls '95 2.5, but read in the haynes book that this only needs doing on cars covering more than 20,000 a year, which if you look at the above figures, ain't mine. Has anyone taken this advice and ended up locked up and in a ditch? (O.K. I'll accept anything less dramatic as well).
Cheers, Fredsta.
