Omega General Help / Emission/Exhaust System
« on: 15 December 2008, 21:41:34 »
I have had a recent problem with the emissions system of my 2.5 V6 Estate.  It seems that the system is becoming so over pressurised that it is enough to blow the 2 rubber connectors in the front pipe of the system.  This rigid pipe (stainless?) can be seen at the front of the engine bay between the radiator and the front of the engine.  The pipe can be identified by the fact it has a cylindrical chamber within it's form.  The 2 rubber connectors (circa 6cm long) connect this front pipe to other rigid pipe in the system which are attached to the engine itself.  I originally thought the blowing/splitting of these connectors was the fault itself but having changed these for 2 new vauxhall supplied items I know now it's a symptom of the problem.  The 2 items lasted no longer than about 10 miles of driving.
Do any of you experts out there have any idea as to what the problem can be?  Any help/advice would be most appreciated - thanks!

Hi Everyone

I was pleased to find, by pure chance, this particular and very special site dedicated to the owners/lovers/haters of Vauxhall Omega type vehicles.  I have owned my Omega 2.5 V6 petrol for about 4 years.  It's automatic and I have enjoyed every moment of driving it.  On the other hand the maintaining of it has been a nightmare although I am a fairly competent mechanic.  This has to be one of the most difficult cars I 've ever owned to work on especially when the front of the vehicle is so very low to the ground.

I've come across this site simply by searching for Omega repair assistance via Google as my car is currently off the road due to a breakdown within the last week.  I will be posting a query in the appropriate place once I get a more clear idea as to how the site works - I hope all you experts out there will be able to advise.  Please look out for my posting in the next couple of days.  Nice to make your acquaintance!!  Regards, Munchie.
