Hey up peeps,

I'm struggling to remove the clutch switch for the cruise control, I've followed the instructions in the book of lies as far as I dare but all I've got is sore fingers and the initial signs of screw driver chewage on the switch housing! I don't want to break it so any advice would be much appreciated ta!

Now we're scraping the bottom.   ;D ;D

Funnily enough I was rubbing it furiously after it started to singe!  ;D :y

Both of mine seem to have packed up as well, but my side did get excessively warm the last time I used it when it was working, almost to the point of burning my a++e!

This is possibly a symptom of pending failure. My drivers seat was excessively hot at a point under my left cheek, so much so that I stopped using it.
Now it doesn't heat at all.   >:(

Ditto, other than it was more towards my right cheek! ;) :y

To further add mystery to the situation I discovered today that the way to stop it chilling me is to set it all the way up to 27, this seems to allow some warm air in, although not as much as you'd expect. Is the consensus of opinion that my sampling fan is intermittent and is suffering from heat soak, and or fluff? I'll get some fresh tissue tomorrow and try and remember to put it on the sampling fan each time I'm in the car and see what it is doing.
Replies much appreciated guys, cheers

Changed the HBV a few weeks ago, due to a leak, all the vacuum pipes are present and correct and have a vacuum as far as I can tell.

Picking out from a post further up the list, does anyone know someone who has tech 2 in North Shropshire that wouldn't charge the earth to plug mine in?

Wow, lots of replies, I'll pick out the ones that apply to me! Right, I've continued checking the sampling fan and when it's not sucking like a good 'un it's actually blowing out instead, I've turned the vents off above it to rule that out and it still blows the paper away, which is odd I think. When the system is on auto and it's deciding to chill me instead of warm me the cabin fan speed also increases, by quite some margin. On the occasions it's actually working the fan is very unobtrusive, as soon as it stops warming the fan steps up 2 or 3 speeds. Is this symptomatic with the poor fan drive electronics that markrl mentioned? The sensor was clean when I checked the panel a few weeks ago but if it was dirty surely it wouldn't warm at all instead of just for a short while?  :-?

Fixed that last winter, wire had broken. That's all working fine now. :-?

Thanks for the reply Kevin, I checked that today and it sticks like the proverbial to the proverbial!

Hello peeps, got an annoying issue with the climate control in my '99 V6 CDX. The climate will provide heat at a set temperature for a short while after starting, for how long varies, and then it decides I'm warm enough and stops supplying heat. I've tried it on auto, manually controlling the temperature and the only way to stop the wife and kids moaning they're cold is to have it on hi and turn the fan down. It piles cold air in on lo and hot aair on hi. Just won't maintain a set temp. The sampling fan is working, there's no gas in the air con (suspect the condenser!) and before I changed the panel last year in an attempt to fix the same problem I got the dashes on the temp displays. Please help, I don't feel the cold that much but my passengers are moaning buggers but I love 'em! :(

Mine was a manual, before the clutch went. He's still maintaining he was sold a faulty item and is now trying to claim his return postage off me. He's having none of it and is saying that I sold him an item with a damaged lead. I can think of choice words to say about him but won't!  >:( >:(

Omega General Help / Mig MID in an Astra?
« on: 29 March 2011, 13:21:13 »
Hello all, I,m going through the painful process of stripping my miggy and selling the bits via the 'bay. I've had a problem with a chap from Turkey who bought my MID/TID which was working fine when I removed it. He sent me a picture of it with pixels missing from the time and the range saying F miles. He's since sent it back but I have no means of testing it. I want to test it because he allegedly put it into an astra and thats what came up, so the question is (eventually) will an Omega MID work in an astra? Or any other Vauxhall for that matter?
Cheers  :-?
