one of my colleagues has a similar system, but he built his himself

the majority of the computer is in the glovebox with a touchscreen molded into the dash

very different, but not sure i would want one in my car

mine did exactly the same

and for my problem it was an IACV and breather pipe clean

including new IACV gasket

Runs fine again now

Probably best to check those 3 first mate, before spending huge amounts of money

While you have the throttle body off, clean the Idle Control Valve too and all breather pipes

Going to have a good look at it tomorrow, make sure everything is connected as it should be

IACV is being done anyway, as are the breathers

Think its time for the paper clip test

Omega General Help / Engine cutting out while driving
« on: 18 January 2009, 21:55:47 »
Started having this problem today.

Whilst driving the car it starts to cut out, this can be at any revs in any gear. It also does it while idling
It eventually goes to the point of stalling, and taking a long time to restart.

I'm going down the lines of doing the IACV and breather pipe clean tomorrow.
Is there anything else I should look out for?

The engine management light is NOT on

This is a 96 Omega 2.0 Auto

well the good old dealers being what they are, haven't got the parts i need in stock

so this is on hold until monday now as i had to get them to order the parts in for me

going to do this oil catch/fly trap mod as well, just to see if it helps

unsure of this as i have only had the car for 3 weeks

think i will do this anyway, the gaskets for them are pennies

will update tomorrow when i have done it

also with it being an N reg, and it's been sat for a while before i bought. It may benefit from an gearbox fluid change
So will also go down that route

« on: 08 January 2009, 00:13:20 »
I have searched for this and came back with no results

I have an issue with the auto box on my 1996 Omega 2.0

Every now and then, when i put the box into Drive the car will try to pull away as normal with the brake on, but it seems to bounce causing the car to almost stall everytime it tries to pull away

It repeats this until i actually let the brake off, then struggles to accelerate

Not sure if its a problem with the box or just the selector switch

I hope I have worded it correctly

Can someone shed some light on what's making the car do this?

i jst cant remember how to remove the airbag warning light! Dont want it failing its mot in 2 weeks! :D

Hello

Just a pointer. The airbag light is NOT part of the mot, so it won't fail on that.
It might however be on the advisory sheet.

I had this problem with my last car (vectra), and he just told me about the light

Cheers the welcome guys & girls

But it seems my ownership of the omega is due to come to an end.

After putting it through an MOT yesterday, it failed on a fair few things including rear springs

I dont have the money to replace these as well as fix all the other problems, so I may have to make the choice to break the car even though i now have the engine and box running nice.

Would be a real shame as the engine and box are both strong, bodywork is very good (only 1 or 2 rust spots)

Due to my newbie status I cant post a parts or car for sale ad. But please get in touch if you would like anything from it. And I will PM you its exact spec.
