i have a 03/1999 x25dt auto, the car has been standing for a couple of months, upon first use after about 10 miles, the gearbox seems to go into limphome mode, pulls away in third gear, and the sport and winter buttons dont function. if i then leave the car and go back a while later, all is fine again. used the car for a couple of days and all was fine, about 60 miles were covered. then the fault occured again.
i borrowed my freinds snap on scanner and no trouble codes were stored on transmission or engine ecu,s. but what i did observe that whilst monitoring the ecu,s on live streaming whilst driving, when the fault occurs the gearbox ecu will not allow me access. my first impression says ecu, but i have tried the transmission ecu from another vehicle( same bosch numbers on the unit), but this throws a code relating to shift pattern. does anyone know are the ecu ,s programmed ( software wise ) to suit whichever engine is fitted to the car. ( unfortuneately because the unit was from a specialist breaker i do not know which engine was in the donor vehicle ). pulling my hair out. thanx. mark
