After doing some more research, I found that the US-spec ecu is designed to support OBD-ll , and coil-on-plug setup. Also it is designed to allow a very low rpm (450rpm range) why I have no idea.
I hope that with a little work and some R&D I can raise the compression, maybe open up the intake, add larger throttle body, maybe even port the heads a little. The US-spec is set between 9.8:1-10:1 compression where the Euro-spec is 10.8:1. I'm sure that makes alot of the difference. 180-190 bhp vs. 211 bhp. I'm gonna push for 11:1 on the compression. US-spec pistons may be the problem though. From what I'm told, they don't support anything more than 10:1 comp. The ecu will be a problem as well, being only designed for automatic transmission, I'm using a 5-speed manual. Also US-spec only supports electric throttle drive no cable. I'll figure that out.
Does anyone here know who builds the 5-speed tranny used in the FWD versions of the X30XE, or with the 2.5 or 3.2 Vectra?
Here they used a GETRAG.

Actually, I don't have a catera, I have a pontiac fiero, the engine is from a '97 catera. which uses a manual tb. the tranny is from a saturn.
So I could use the euro-spec ecu.

Sounds feasible then. Do you know what engine management system it uses? Non-DBW UK cars are Bosch Motronic 2.7.1. If the pinout is the same it should be a straight swap. And a UK tuning chip would plug straight in.

Does it have the same ancillaries? Multiram air intake, SAI, EGR? Might have to fool the ECU with some resistors if not all the actuators are present.

Here's a look at the Caddy setup,

Is this the same as euro-spec?

Anyone have a Euro-Spec ECU?

What is stock compression on the Omega? Stock HP?
Are the Bosch ECU's plentiful in salvage yards over there?
How hard do you think it would be for me to find someone with a parts car to have the engine wiring and ecu?
Do any of you know anyone?
Got a pic of Omega ecu?
The only Bosch ecu controlled GM cars here that I could get an ecu for is the Saturn ecotec 2.2L.
The Catera, uses a Bosch Motronic ECU. Where would I find the chip, you guys use?

Who makes the ECU for you?
I can raise compression, maybe do euro-spec. ECU and wiring swap.

I see alot of nice/fast Omega's but what all can be done to it to make power?

Wow I think the part about my swap that worries me most is gonna be routing all the vaccuum lines.

It's going in a car similar to this one.

Has any of you done an engine replacement or swap?
I'm looking for someone who's had their engine out and taken pictures. As decent pictures of the X30XE are hard to find anywhere.
I'm looking for a picture of the back of the block head on, with or without flywheel.
Anyone?

Omega General Help / Re: C25XE,X25XE ?

The reasons I ask is because, the online info says that the X is the Eco-Tec version of the C25. If the heads and block are pretty much the same, what makes the X Eco-Tec?

C25XE has a different sump as it was designed to be mounted transversely and the downpipes curve underneath.

So essentially they are the same.
Are they compatible?

Pretty much the same......different engine managemnet system but thats pretty much it.

The inlet setup was not as good as the X25XE and lacked multiram....obviously only a 2.5

What I'm really asking is, that in reallity the C25 and X25 share same block and head design?
Are there interchangable parts between the two? I understand the intake system was different though, but could you use the X25 intake on the C25?

C25XE and X25XE
Are there any major differences between these two engines?
Are they both 54° V6? The major differences I see are the intake.
Also while searching I find a C20XE, what was this? Is this a part of the same family?
