not sure how long the glow plugs have been in for so will try the paperclip test. What are the leak off pipes? (excuse my ignorance!)

Omega General Help / 2.5TD poor starting
« on: 02 February 2009, 19:12:28 »
New year new battery! were would the best place to start be with my 2.5 TD as I am finding starting in the mornings. it sort of coughs and splutters and I killed the battery trying to start this morning! once started It starts on the button but it's getting it going in the morning, The colder and damper the day the harder to start. I am thinking glow plugs but I have been down this route before with another diesel and changing them made no difference.  :(

either needle sensor injector is damaged, or the FIP timing is out

Hello again The boy! you are talking to a diesel novice here what is the needle sensor injector? I am guessing the FIP is the diesel pump timing can check that easily enough.  :y

Hi all decided to try the old paper clip test on my tractor today and got fault 34 which is fuel injector values out of range. Great that it works but what does this mean? is it one of those annoying codes that could mean a thousand things?

Cheers in advance for your opinions!

Just checked the fault codes and 34 is actually injector timing out of range not values, but still no clearer what could be wrong. :( car runs ok a bit down on fuel consumption and the usual tractor noise from the engine.

had this meself was driving me nuts!! the answer was to change the engine mountings!! think the one near the turbo hardens with age and transmits the vibration!! however before you do that check gearbox rear mounting rubber hasnt split and all exhaust mountings! cos they will transmit a vibration to the body as well, :y
Was what I was thinking was also thinking that one day I will buy a second car I can just drive and not worry about but that wouldn't be so much fun would it  ::) Thats what we have an audi for, service, tyres, mot and tax and that's it for the year! :y

do you have the plastics on over the injectors? If so, try with that removed.
HI The boy! yeah tried that it is far more than an under bonnet noise it's in the cabin like the whole dashboard is reverberating sometimes it's also the electric rear blind. Would a worn engine mount do this? it must be engine related...like transferring engine vibration to the body?? :D

Hi all! Got my glow plugs in and finally now starts on the button! Does any one get a vibration on tick over? it seems to be coming from the dashboard and through the seats as soon as you touch the throttle it is gone but pull up to a set of lights and the buzzing starts. it's a plastic vibration. Its not the glove box lid already checked this. more of an annoyance than anything else but trying to get my omega back to it's former glory. ;D

Omega General Help / Re: Brake vacuum hoses 2.5 TD Blast it!
« on: 14 February 2009, 16:58:09 »
Cheers to THE BOY! I couldn't see how it would effect the breaks if it was blocked off properly. I new it was all going too well all the manifold nuts come off too easily and the EGR copper pipe was done up finger tight think that might explain my tractor like noise plus the EGR valve was completly blocked solid! lots of work getting it all sweet tomorrow!  :y

Omega General Help / Brake vacuum hoses 2.5 TD Blast it!
« on: 14 February 2009, 16:45:14 »
Hi all, Finally got round to removing the inlet manifold and replace my glow plugs today and apart from finding the EGR valve blocked solid I thought all was going well.... Until I noticed one of the little hoses that come off of the Large vacuum pipe for the breaks to a small control box on the wing had come off, or should I say snapped off where it goes onto the blue connector is broken! I have found a replacement on ebay but need the car for work. I know we should always be careful when it comes to brakes but will this cause a problem with the breaks if I block off the hose and connector as they are such a small diameter?? What a bugger! if I cant put it all back together tomorrow it will be next weekend before I get it back on the road :'( any help would be greatly appreciated.
