I believe the correct term is 'Ya cannae polish a turd!'

I think it's pretty hard to get a good sound in a car, it's just not designed for it.

If you have cash to burn I was looking on the TM website the other day.

IIRC it was about £150 to get a TM fully fitted and with a subscrption for as long as you own the car.

Actually it's £130.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / CD code - resolved
« on: 25 February 2009, 11:40:55 »
Sorted it.

To get to the CD code entry screen press and hold the 'CD' button for 5 seconds before switching the electrics on.

You will then be prompted to enter the code.

Thanks guys.

Need to be the other side of the country tomorrow and this has been giving me a headache all week.

One of the o rings had split. Got a close-ish match from local parts shop and it seems to have stopped it for now. Need to keep checking it tonight and tomoz morning, I'm hoping the match was close enough.

Omega General Help / Radiator drain

Got a leak from the radiator drain, can't seem to seal it. Gonna have to drain and remove the radiator and see of I can reapair the drain.

Had anyone had this? Can it be repaired? If not if anyone has a radiator for sale I may need one.

Cheers.

I'd be suprised if it was the head gasket at that mileage.

Stick with it mate, I can promise you can sort it for less than what Vx quoted you, probably quite a lot less!!

Twice yesterday, once today. Bizzare

Is the noise from the power sounds vastly different to the sound from the main alarm?

Mine went off a couple of times today fro no apparent reason.  Remote open from the keyfob shut it up and i'll leave it open for now as I don't fancy dashing out in the middle of the night.

Thanks Andy,

Been out again and seems fine now. I think it was just the different design of pad bedding in.

Ta.

Thanks,

Sliders were ok. Struggled to get the piston back in so bought a 4" G-clamp. went in easy enough after that.  Seals seems ok, didn't notice any damage.

Span the disks after i'd refitted. Seems to catch slightly in a certain spot. Not enough to stop it but enough to make a slight rubbing noise.

I did a mile but was up to nsl speeds doing full and hard breaking.

I'll keep an eye on it, thanks for the info :y

Omega General Help / Brake pads - Disks overheating
« on: 16 May 2009, 16:57:25 »
Hi,

I put some new pads in today (front) and not sure it right.

Taken it for a quick run and it brakes well but on returning home I noticed a lot of heat and the disks were extremely hot to touch.

It had Halfords pads in before, had 4mm of meat on the but braking was terrible and was getting a bit of squeal.

I fitted Delphi Lockheed recommended by my local auto store.

I did notice they were a slightly different shape to the Halfords ones. The dealer checked they were correct on ordering and on delivery and they slot perfectly into the caliper so fairly sure they are correct.

Is the heat normal after new pads?
