thanks for the advice! will try running the engine without the aux belt when im off on monday. cannot get it to make the noise at all now.

just started her up again and the noise is barely noticeable im sure its coming from the aux belt seems to change note when i rev the engine, also noticed that the alternator is a little bit noisy as well, so it could be that thats making the rubbing noise!?

i picked up a 53 plate vectra c dti yesterday and this morning its started first time but there's a repeating squeak that went away after a couple of miles driving!? sounds like the aux belt to me but a guy at work said it could be the fuel pump 
!! ive heard the fuel pump is expensive fix! so im sat here work getting very worried because it was a private sale.

I'd be tempted to remove the covers & refit them to the all electric memory seats ..... depends on your spannering skills I suppose.
i would give it a go but it sounds like a big job! there's got to be stitching as well as spannering?

they were only £40 in the end and its to cheap to pass! thought i might be able to just swap the bases so i only loose the tilt adjustment!? but i don't mind loosing the extra electrics and swapping them though if the wiring's not to complicated? cos its only me driving the car so it's very rarely adjusted

ive picked them up and there there not totally manual there's a motor and one adjuster on the side(looks like up/down) and air bags, supposed to have come from a 51 plate cd! one of the tracks is slightly bent at the end but should be ok!

driving home tonight and there was a change in engine note and a bit of steam, then while i was at the lights anti freeze steam came bellowing from under the bonnnet!! it's lost all the coolant in the header tank.!? the car gave me a oil level warning on the display this morning so i topped it up before i set off from work tonight an spilled a good bit so i thought it was that burning off. too dark now i will have to have a look tommorow. it dont sound good though

As far as I know Lemforder Wishbones last at best 2 years, so would not expect Buy Parts Buy ones to last that long being honest. Vauxhall ones are by far the best which arent Lemforder ones no matter anyone says but they are far more expensive to buy them. Hope that helps
there a false economy then! only any good if your gonna sell the car on. gm originals are the only way to go if your intending on keeping the car, i was ill when you and pete repaired the car so the details are vague but i do remember you saying that the Lemforder wishbones that i was having fitted were as good as the gm originals!! im not attaching any blame here just that i don't think i would have had Lemforder fitted if i knew i would be replacing them less than 18 months later!

supposed to be the good ones, pete an daz fitted them. even if they were the cheapo ive done less than 5000 miles since they were fitted so its got to be somthing else im gonna jack her up 2mora at work

cannot be the wishbones only had them replaced just over a year ago! just got to hope its something cheap like the droplinks
