Omega General Help / Omega mechanics lancashire
« on: 05 June 2007, 07:38:13 »
Anyone know a good omega mech around lancs area. I don't mind travelling a bit to find right one. my last meggie had a timing belt changed by local mech and it never had the same grunt afterwaqrds.
Got a few jobs want doing but can't really do them myself cos i don't have a garage or drive where i live and it's no fun working in a car on a main road!!!
Also would like to have 4 wheel alignment done, where's best place for this.
How much are rear shocks (self leveling) for a 1999 2.5 elite?
Hope you can help.
Thanks all
Paul

Omega General Help / Re: power steering control unit

it's very heavy. There is some assistance tho as when you turn the wheel it affects the revs and also if you try to turn wheel with engine off it's nigh on  impossible so it is working. I had a similar problem with one years ago but that was fixed under warranty. turned out to be heated washer jet shorting and blowing F14 but it's not that this time.

Thanks for advice guys.
Mark, I think relay is ok as i have 12v at the steering box so i suspect the solonoid valve on the box is at fault. The steering is heavy whatever the revs and it had a new steeing pump about 3 months ago to try to solve the prob. Is it possible to replace just the solonoid valve or is it a new box needed? if new box, any idea what it would cost??

Cheers

Hiya,

Thanks for relay info but nothing shown there for Power steering? I have now found that i was being daft and had meter set to AC when measuring supply to steering box. There is now 12v there but still minimal assistance. Is it possible to change just the solenoid valve on the steering box or is it a new box needed?
The pump has recently been replaced by the previous owner hoping to solve this issue but it was not the problem.

power steering control unit

Hi all,

Does anyone know where this unit is? it is marked up as k41 in the Haynes wiring diagrams. I'm assuming it's just a relay but not sure which one. Is there a list of omega relays out there anywhere?
Car is a 1999 2.5 elite model. power steering is very heavy (i.e. minimum assistance.) it is working as the revs change when wheel is turned but i'm measuring no voltage at the connector on the steering box so need to trace back to control unit and check there.
Help please!!!

Omega General Help / What to buy???
« on: 18 December 2006, 18:02:07 »
Hi guys,
Just got a new job and was told i'd have an astra van but held out for a large estate car. Thinking along lines of late omega 2.5td or Vectra td.
2 questions really,

1:- Is it true that the inline 6 BMW td does not have a timing belt but a chain and what do i need to look for with this engine.
2:- Anyone know the earliest model of vectra that the new 3.0v6 TD was fitted to. Not sure if they'll runn to cost of one of these but may be able to twist their arms. Is this engine any good. it certainly seems to have good bhp/torque figures.

Ive currently got a V6 2.5 petrol and love it but will be up for sale if all goes well with job!!!

Thanks for any help
Paul
