No, the code cannot be determined before the radio is disconnected, but its not a problem should you need us to assist you to find it.

Thats a relief. Thanks for that.

Thats very kind of you.

I have now found where the changer should go. There is a cable there with a square 9 pin connector. Hopefuly yours is the same.

Hi Froezen and thanks for the reply. No changer there but at least now I know where to look for the wiring.
No sign of code on the display so I may be lucky.
Could you tell me the model of the cd changer so I know which one to get.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / 96 CDX CD Changer?
« on: 12 March 2009, 11:19:42 »
Hi Everyone.

A bit of a mystery this one. I recently bought a 96 Omega cdx estate. It has the SC804 head unit fitted with cd control. I am not sure but wasn’t this model fitted with a cd changer as standard?

This is my first Omega so I am not sure where it should be fitted but I have checked behind the panel in the back and nothing there. The audio manual shows the cd changer as being in the glove box but nothing there either. To be honest the glove box looks too small to hold a cd changer anyway.

So I am thinking that maybe there is a different glove box to hold the cd changer and that has been removed along with the cd changer. The only other clue I have found is a small bag containing three brass screws labeled cd transit screws indicating to me that it did at one point have a changer.

My question is this:

Am I correct in thinking that there is a different glove box to hold the changer and am I also right in thinking that the compatible changer for the SC804 is the Philips DC012?

Last thing. I have been through all the paperwork and have found no sign of the head unit code. It does say in the manual that the code can be disabled. This is my only hope as at some point the battery is going to be disconnected. Is there any way to tell before disconnecting if the code will be needed or should I budget for a new head unit as well?

Thanks

Steve
