Hi, I have a 2.2dti CDX estate. After the CD cassette jammed in the head unit, I had to replace the whole radio/cd player with a brand new one. The new one being a Siemens unit.
Now the radio only recieves a few stations such as R1,2,3,4 + one or two others. Any ideas?
Hi Glassback, Clearly the fact that "Marks DTM Calib" knew about a diesel pre heater in this area and the fact that you also have the same problem would indicate to me that the problem is not as unique as my dealer would have me beleive!!
I have now had this heater by-passed (the dealer did it whilst the car was in for other work) and it has solved the problem. The dealer charge was 1 hrs labour @ £80+ vat and a couple of seals. If you have the facility to do the work yourself (I didnt), I shouldnt think it would be too big a job.
I would suggest that you do bypass the heater (or get a dealer to do it) as I thought like you that it was only a minor problem....until the leak got much worse to the point whereby I could actually see the fluid coming out! With derv at the price it is these days I would not just leave it. Hope you get it sorted.Good luck!
The problem with my fluid leak has now been resolved. As suggested by "Marks DTM Calib" the problem lies with an auxilliary heater which is diesel fed.
According to my local dealer, this is something not normally fitted on cars for the UK as it is usually fitted for the Scandinavian market and not required in mainland Europe. The cheapest and most practical solution to the problem being to bypass this part as its replacement costs £485 + 2 hours labour + VAT.
Many thanks to all who responded with suggestions - much appreciated
The part which "appears" to be leaking is in front of the wheel arch liner and behind the bumber. It looks kinda like a mini silencer box. Could this be the diesel pre-heater?
Hi. I did think it could be water from the air con but, that normally comes out from underneath the car in the middle. I have also tried turning off the climate control but the fluid still appears. I do have H/lamp wash and will check that suggestion.
I dont think it is brake fluid. The fluid on the floor is in front of the wheel and not behind it. The amount that has leaked upto now would mean that I have no brake fluid left at all ! The brakes are working fine, are not spongy and dont fade. Thanks for your suggestion though.
Help! I have a 2.2dtiCDX estate 2002 model which has fluid leaking from the front end of the car just in front of the OSF wheel. This fluid appears when the car has been stood even for a short while. The damp patch left by the fluid does not dry up like an ordinary water leak and therefore must be some other typr of fluid. Under the front w/arch in front of the wheel, there seems to be some sort of clear fluid leaking. This sometimes looks like dirty water, and is slightly sticky. Any ideas as to what this is, where it is coming from and how to fix it?
You can go to some of the places such as Partco for these but, as Andy B suggests, go to Vauxhall ! You will be amazed at the price even without a Trade Club card. I went to buy pads from Vauxhall and they said that to buy pads & discs separately would cost approx £140 in total, BUT, if you buy the pads & discs together as a kit, they would be only about £90 !!
